A fortress, grottoes and labyrinths provide a setting for an enlightening and exciting visit to Gujwa, a large district on Jeju Island. Surrounding the western outskirts of Gujwa is the Bijarim Forest, whose nutmeg trees date back 500 to 800 years. You can almost feel the natural history as you stroll along tree-lined paths. Nearby Gotjawal Forest contains the scenic Dongbaekdongsan Wetland area.

Stroll through the tunnel of the Manjanggul Lava-Tube Cave and marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites that are illuminated by bursts of color. Find Gujwa tucked away in the northeastern corner of Jeju Island. Head east from Jeju Town by bus or take a taxi to its sights. Continue traveling clockwise around the perimeter of the island to reach other nearby districts, such as Goseong, Seongsan and Pyoseon-Myeon.
