Mostly it was fine. Food and drinks are expensive though. The place is a bit like a rabbit warren so it could do with a few more signs around both to and from reception to the rooms. Especially on both sides of the door near the table tennis. The communal spa changing rooms are not everyone's 'cup of tea' It would appear that the reception computer could do with an update as it took some time to recognize our booking NB The hotel is on the main A591 at the Cockermouth turning. If using the post code Sat Nav will send you to the remote Bassenthwaite village.

Amazing staff, great location and parking The food is average and the menu is very limited, the room (19) has been updated recently but was right by the the main road and a noisy extract fan on the floor below which came on at 4.15am every morning. Overall it’s a nice big hotel that has been in the process of renovation for the last few years. It would be a much better experience if they could expand the menu and quality of the food.

Fantastic hotel. A great place to stay if you want to explore the Lake District. The staff were always very helpful and easy to talk to. There were always good options during breakfast time and the spa was very relaxing.

Perfect place to stay. The hotel is great, staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast was brilliant. The spa is a very nice added bonus. Pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi - just what you need after a long hike! Also has EV charging - £30 flat rate. I would 100% stay here again.

All the staff, especially those in the bar/restaurant area were excellent. They were very accommodating, warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Room was lovely, although you do need some level of navigational expertise to find your room and your way around the hotel!

Lovely place, clean, some maintenance happening, but didn't disturb our 5 days. Breakfast had plenty choices including Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale, restaurant, lovely food. Staff very friendly and helpful. 20min drive from Keswick, which was handy for more restauarants, bars and the boat trip was brilliant. Tennis Court, mini golf a bonus on-site and swimming pool was good size and good to cool down as weather was hot for our trip. Being Scottish, it would be nice to have bar open a bit later,overall stay was excellent, definitely would visit again.

The room was very clean and had just been renovated, making it feel much more comfortable. The front desk staff were not particularly friendly and could improve their customer service. However, the restaurant staff provided excellent service and deserve recognition. The swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi facilities were excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Charming but a bit inconsistent. Staff were mostly wonderful but a couple were unprofessional. Breakfast was either good and what you asked for, or mediocre and completely wrong. The room was either serviced well or someone had walked in, changed the loo roll, left cleaning products in the bathroom and walked out. It COULD be brilliant, the gardens are beautiful, beds are comfy and clean, some of the staff are fantastic and we'll miss it but they need everyone to be as good as Liam!
