" We stayed at this amazing hotel for our wedding anniversary on the 1st of August for 2 nights. The staff in all areas were out of this world and could not do enough for us especially in the restaurant and I have to give a special mention to Derrick who is incredible and takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. The food on the first night was one of the best restaurant meals I have had along with impeccable service. My wife had the chicken and said was the best she had eaten and I had the local lamb which was full of flavour and delicious. Then on the second night they surpassed themselves again. Never thought possible. I ordered a blue fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and my wife same but medium again cooked perfectly. The desserts were also to die for. Being a chef this is a great compliment to all the restaurant and kitchen staff Also the breakfast was wonderful plenty of choice from cold buffet, cereal , bread and pastries and then a choice of cooked to order breakfast with locally sourced ingredients the buttermilk pancakes were delicious and the full English. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated with great bathrooms and very comfy beds. The housekeeping was impeccable also. Our view was amazing was a view of the lake and gardens from all windows stunning. The leisure club is a joy with a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and good sized pool with plenty of seating inside and out. They also gave us a free room upgrade, champagne and chocolates "

"We really enjoyed our stay and would go back again. It was a clean apartment and close to lots of local amenities and lovely walking routes. The lady on reception was also very friendly and helpful. "

"There are a lot of different breakfast options, and the food is great especially the bacon in Eggs Benedict and the sourdough bread. The spa bath is great, and the bathroom is nice. The only problem is the extra bed is a bit too soft, and the bed is a bit too low. Access to transport is near, as Windermere Library bus stop is near (basically in front of the hotel!), so is Windermere Railway Station as it’s an 10 minute walk via High Street. Overall the stay is pretty good."

"Only stayed one night. Lovely quiet setting. The whole place has character. Staff were great and friendly, very accommodating. Beautiful views from the restaurant and bar of the gardens. Room was nice, tidy and clean although a little warm for my liking. Will be back for another stay soon! "

"Overall we had an excellent time at the burn how hotel. We did feel that the rooms could benefit from a little refresh, as some areas looked tired. The staff are simply fantastic! We had a small issue which was sorted very quickly and this was down to the efficiency of all the team. Jack in particular was professional, polite and is a credit to the hotel. Thank you."

"This is a lovely hotel in a great location. My room was gorgeous and had the best nights sleep I’ve had in years, as the room is sound proofed. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Just a few things to be aware of. This hotel is quite expensive to book, and it’s a little cheeky they charge an Additional cost for parking, £25 for the night. It does not have aircon so is quite warm. The food and drink are overpriced. (Recommend going elsewhere) However, it is a lovely hotel and you can’t beat the location "

"Fabulous hotel in the middle of Ambleside. Staff were all amazing ... fantastic customer service from everyone we encountered. Room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and very clean and quiet. Plenty of free parking available on site. Public areas were expansive, relaxing and once again very well presented. We really enjoyed our stay and are already planning a return trip for a longer period. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to all."
