"The guesthouses were these really cute wooden cabins. We felt very close to the nature around us! We loved the food in the restaurant (had both breakfast and dinner). All the products are really fresh as is is a farm and they taste amazing!"

"This property was very accommodating. We were able to check in early. The property is right in the middle of the lava fields and has a great view of the lake. They have their dogs on site which was cool because we were missing our dogs at home. We were able to see the northern lights during our stay. Would definitely go back!"

We were on our honeymoon so selecting the perfect hotels during our time was really important. I’m so glad we decided to go with this stay. Our room was really clean and had great lighting. The staff knew we were on our honeymoon and brought us champagne! So nice! They also have a northern lights wake up call, we didn’t see them this night but I think this is a great extra service this hotel gives you. We went to the baths and drove back late at night and thought the drive perfect. "

"We had booked the Sel Hotel Myvatn as part of our 10 day Iceland Ring Road trip. The location is an excellent base from which to explore the amazing area. All the places we wanted to see were easily within reach. On our second day there, an early blizzard moved in and stopped all travel. (Iceland is great about providing detailed road conditions). Our party of four was happy to be at Sel Hotel Myvatn, especially if our trip was to be interrupted. All parts of the experience were very comfortable, the beds, the spacious bathroom with heated floor and towel rack, large lobby with a number of seating nooks. Also entertaining were a pool table, a foosball table, and of course, a great bar and restaurant. What I really liked was the patience and care shown by the hotel staff. The hotel is family owned, and so the owners were there to answer all the guests questions about weather and road conditions. local attractions and so forth. I appreciated that the owner at the front desk asked each departing guest which way they were going, so as to provide updated travel conditions to the guest. "

"What is unique is the isolation deep in a valley, a stunningly beautiful valley. The access to the "driveway" is an F-Road, meaning in Iceland very rough, rutted, slippy gravel and narrow. Quite treacherous. The access road is about 4km, and the remainder of the road directly into the farmyard is another 7-8km. Pretty scary and not good for 2-wheel vehicles. Also, the host apparently does not wish to give out her phone number--only email, and she does not answer every email, perhaps not even checking messages once a day. If there were some sort of emergency, it is difficult to imagine how it would be handled quickly. "

"One of the nicest places we have stayed in. The host had fresh baked bread and cake for us. The gourmet kitchen was a dream with the best organization for the guests with fresh eggs, butter and milk. The coffee set up was dreamy with ever option available. The room had a fabulously comfortable bed and modern bathroom with these cool round corner shower doors that folded in giving extra space when not using the shower. The location truly could not be beat with a perfect view of Hverfall the cider cone volcano mountain. But without a doubt the greatest part of the stay was the care by the host who not only made sure we were comfortable, had multiple cups of hot coffee but also had an infectious passion for the area and Iceland in general. He shared his knowledge truly enriching our experience! Hope to return!"
