"The hotel felt very homely, with a warm informal reception. It’s quite huge inside with many corridors creating a feeling of discovery.
I have to give a special call out to the restaurant. Great menu and my choice was exceptional in every way. Service & food brilliant.
Our room was the Thomas More suite; happily we escaped with heads intact!! Cavernous room with sufficient sockets. Didn’t really trust the old plumbing so avoided the shower.
Would be in our shortlist should we stay in the area again.
Will definitely"
Gardenside Lodge self - catering dog friendly holiday home in County Durham
10/10 Excellent
"We had the privilege of staying at Glad and Kens fantastic property last week. The property was immaculately clean, very well maintained and the garden was beautifully crafted . Glad and Ken were amazing hosts and were always available for help and support. Their property is highly recommended and we will certainly be back !"
"Well this booking was made on the whole purpose of having a relaxing weekend after running 350km for charity over the past few months.
So we booked here for the hot tub and the relevant ease of running a Park Run on the Saturday.
After running this Park Run we returned back to the accommodation for our day of in and out of the hot tub.
Although this turned out to be turned off so we had an ice bath, not advertised on the website. We then were told that we would get a nights refund for this error. (2 weeks on still waiting).
The hosts did bring someone round to fill the hot tub up to enable us to get in which took around 30-40 minutes.
But then we discovered the cooker doesn’t work by this time we had had enough and just packed up and went home.
My verdict on this accommodation is don’t bother and certainly get anything they offer in writing. "
