"Good location as convenient stores and hotpot restaurant are just around the corner, but these do not create any noise. Sound proof for the Standard Quadruple Room is poor as I can hear people walking upstairs & downstairs. Breakfast were good, just a bit salty. Great coffee! "

"We had a double lake view room with a fantastic view. The room is spacious and spotless clean. We even had a radiator in our room which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast is delicious. They provide two vegetarian options but also the other options can be prepared without meat. At check-in we received a welcome drink and were greeted super friendly. Also English was not a problem but knowing some Chinese is always helpful;) "

"I liked how it was very tranquil. The evening concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful when I told her I wanted to see the sunrise. She arranged everything with an external contractor. If you’re also arriving late, they have restaurants that can come and transport guests to and back to hotel - especially when the roads are dark and winding at night. "

"The owner is very welcoming and upgraded our room from container house to the real house without price raise. Though it's just a short stop after one day hiking, the facilities in the house are simple but with almost all what you need. Very clean environment.

For a Westerner, I found the food at both breakfast and dinner to be very unappealing. Although we had paid for half board, we skipped dinner the second night. "We stayed at the new wing, the room was relatively new and very clean. Spacious with a private balcony which provided a good view, albeit partially blocked by the older wing infront. Would suggest going for the old wing if you want a good view.

"Very friendly staff. We checked in late in the afternoon. They took us through a shortcut to the ropeway station because they knew that it was about to close. We would have missed it if it were for their proactive help. Overall, we are very happy with the service, the condition of the property, the breakfast, etc. The only thing that could use improvement is their towels They were threadbare. That said, they were very clean."

I got the panoramic view room which is excellent. And breakfast was served in room to let me enjoy the nice view. Grohe shower set is just some of the things u know they value about. "Sun Moon Lake is a treasure to the country of Taiwan and staying right on the lake at the Sun Moon Lake Hotel enabled us to experience it by boat, walking and biking. This hotel is perfectly located. "

"In any other place, I would have given this 4 stars. However, given the shortage of reasonably-priced, top-notch hotels around the lake, my 5-star rating reflects what was available for Taiwan. The room was very nice, and the hotel was close to the bus station and to the start of the trails around the lake. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and made our entire stay around Sun Moon Lake a great experience. Any issues we experienced, such as a slow elevator, narrow stairs, too few electrical outlets, etc., were very minor, and are to be expected throughout Taiwan.
One thing remember: Take your key when you go out. Without it, you won't be able to get back into the hotel after 9:00 as the staff are off.
Ask the staff about the local restaurant serving local mountain vegetable-based dishes. You won't regret it.

"We did a last minute trip over a holiday weekend to Sun Moon lake. We found this hotel and we're pleasantly surprised for how nice it was. The price was right but it was very comfortable and clean. And the staff was very helpful. There is parking, although it is in a lot about a block away. The shower is fantastic! They also provide a variety of snacks and some bottles of drinking water. My room had a king size bed and a mini refrigerator. Bed and pillows were very comfy. Just a short walk to the wharf that connects with the Sun Moon lake boat system."
"The hotel is run by a kind older couple. I wound up entering the wrong hotel with a similar name and the older gentleman came out and escorted me to the correct place on the back of his motorcycle! Downside is that I think they insist the bath soap doubles as hand soap so there is only one container of soap in the bathroom. Decor is a bit dated but this is common in this area. "
