Walk the DNR trail located next to the home to downtown area and restaurants, or grill at home. Free access to indoor water park 1/2 block away and 2400' of private sandy beach. Home is new and in a quiet secluded setting off of the main road, but within walking distance to downtown. Front and rear porches provide great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Bad place to stay.
The worst we have experienced in more than 15 years of using VRBO. Should be delisted. Poorly furnished. Inadequate kitchen pans/utensils. No cable and internet which was not apparent until you booked and made the first payment. No extra toilet paper. No soap in the bathrooms. No dish detergent or dishwasher detergent. No laundry detergent. All people we dealt with we’re rude. Don’t stay there!

If you are looking for an expensive, poorly maintained guest home with no essential items (salt/pepper, trash bags, paper towels etc). None. Very minimal, low quality cooking utensils and supplies. No WiFi. Photos that totally misrepresent all the interior furnishings and exterior of the home. An odd mildew smell in parts of the home. Floors that will make your feet black on bottom, along with a rude and condescending host…….this unit is for you.

False Advertising!!
You can’t read reviews until after you book- that’s your first red flag! Everything from prev reviews is true. The worst part is being so close to the industrial laundry facility. There is only a thin line of trees separating the house & the new addition to the facility. A past renter complained about the entire house having cheap, ugly hotel furniture instead of the aesthetically decorated house in the pictures- this is 100% true and so disappointing. Past renters complained about the house being filthy- our experience wasn’t terrible in this area however I am not sure who I have to thank for that- the owner or past renters who stated they deep cleaned the fridge among other areas of the house. Past renters complained about the lack of security on the doors, the owners fixed this problem by placing several zip ties on the office French doors (lazy & unsafe!). A past renter complained about a laundry truck blocking them in, unable to leave -that happened to us too. This trip was supposed to be for a bachelorette party, however due to a death in the bride’s family 4 days after the “no refund” date, the prop owner did not even respond to our messages for even a partial refund! The room with 4 single beds was very hot. Outside grounds are atrocious and covered in ant hills! The exterior landscaping is overgrown and moss grows in the roof and stairs. Pros: It is a place to sleep conveniently located to town. We enjoyed the fire pit and beach access. Good luck if you stay here.

The listing is misleading
Vrbo should probably delist this house. While the house is workable, the posting for this place is misleading. First, the house in the photo is not the same house, which is weird because while the house is a bit dirty on the outside, it's not a bad place. The house is not in the woods. Its close to a major highway and there is an industrial area right by the house. Looks like something was rezoned by the house and the owner is just trying to squeeze as much cash out of it before the house isn't useable. Also, basic amenities were missing/broken. No working coffee maker. Hot water was in very short supply and weirdly sporadic. Couldn't even properly lock the house, needed to use zip ties on a back door to "secure" it. No dishwasher/laundry detergent. No working can openers. Yeah, like I said, whoever owns this house is putting as few resources as possible into this place to take advantage of low info customers. If listed for $200 a nite, ok fine, but not this.

TERRIBLE STAY
House was in the middle of nowhere. It was hard to find the house. It was next to a laundry industrial facility. Once we got to the house it was not off the lake and couldn't see the lake. The house was dirty and smelled bad. The carpet was nasty, and it was stains on the toilets. The house does not have WIFI. An overall dump. Never again.

You don't want to stay here.
The location of this property is super awkward and not appealing. Its directly next to a municipal laundry facility that you have to drive around to get to the house because there are always trucks blocking the driveway. There was construction happing directly next to the house which woke us up on a Sunday morning. The house is not well stocked, cheap everything, stains and dirt all over the carpet, the bathroom rugs look as if they have never been cleaned. None of the tv remote controls had batteries. The heat was not working when we arrived. It was 50 degrees in the house and we had to deal with a maintenance man to get it fixed. The upstairs shower did not work so all 6 of us had to share the grimey shower on the first floor. This is at the top of the list for worst rental experiences.

It was perfect for my family. Check in was easy but I don't think I could have found it on my own. House was very clean. It was right on this trail so it was easy to ride bikes to the ferry dock, even with small kids. The waterpark access was a nice extra. All the kids really loved it. Great for families!

Clean and spacious
We had a couple families stay together and there was plenty of room. The house is definitely spacious! I saw alot of reviews about cleanliness and was worried but we didn't have any issues. The house was very clean. We were there in fall so there wasn't much for landscaping. It also rained alot so we didn't do much in the yard. We enjoyed our stay and recommend for large groups.

It was a good stay. My family travels a lot and we have stay in many rental homes. This one was very clean, big and in a beautiful area. We really enjoyed our vacation. We were able to grill out and have a fire at night. It did not have WIFI, but we did ok without it. Absolutely love this home!

This home looks exactly like you would think - on the outside. The inside was nothing like the pictures indicated. There were no accessories on the shelves or pictures hanging on the walls. It looked like someone was in the process of moving out. I expected to stay in a cozy house that was decorated like the photos. This is not the case! Also, beware if you need internet - the home has no wifi. This is the first negative experience I have had on VRBO. All in all, the lodging was very disappointing.

Deceiving and Overpriced, house reminded me of a setting of Criminal minds episode.
Pictures of the property need to be updated to reflect what it actually looks like, with dog smelling furniture and broken locks no batteries in the remotes for all the TVS the house is not clean the stove looked like it has not been cleaned in months, no hot water in one of the master bath shower heads. and details of Location it is off the path and you have to pass a laundry warehouse. The master bath had black mold. This home is over priced due to the deceiving pictures online. The house is not maintained inside or out. It is very disappointing that people can not be honest but happy to over charge. No instructions for checking out. This host should be ashamed of themselves. And it’s funny you can’t read any reviews until you pay in full.. Beware of this property it looks like a house staged for a Criminal minds episode. Especially since you can not lock all the doors. No consideration for peoples safety or making them feel comfortable and secured,

We had a wonderful stay. Check in was so simple. The property is in a wooded area and not well maintained for outdoor activities. Inside is very roomy and well stocked with appliances we needed. We had no problem finding the house but can see there might be a problem for some. All in all a great place to stay.

NOT AS ADVERTISED - PERTINENT INFO OMITTED!!!
First of all, I was instructed to go to the office of the Days Inn to pick up the key. The lady at the desk was very nice and drew a little map to the house. When we followed the directions we could not find it. Words could never describe the way you have to get to this house. When you turn off the paved road all you see is a warehouse which appears to be a commercial laundry service. Sketchy people are smoking around the building and parking lot. We drove around behind the building to find a place to turn around and there are stacks of storage containers and no way to get out. We turned around and went back to the highway to see if there was another road. Nope. We go back and turn into the parking lot of the laundry facility, driving passed the doors with everyone looking at us and onto a narrow gravel road leading into dense trees, no house in site. There was a small, weathered wooden sign with "11431" on it. The address to the house is 11432 but we proceeded until we saw a house. I had to pull up the pictures in the listing and study them to make sure it was the correct house. Once we decided it must be there was no way to get to the front door so we drove around to the side. The first picture if the back of the house, not the front. The yard, shrubs and flower beds are overgrown and moss and algae are all over the front porch and stone flowerbeds. The key is not for the front door, it's for the door that enters the garage. I did a quick tour and then tried to figure out how to get out of this reservation. Since the rest of our family was arriving shortly we decided to stay and I went to the grocery store. When I got back I opened the refrigerator and almost died, it was so gross. I had to scrub it down before I would dare put food in it. The silverware drawer was dirty with food droppings and crumbs in the trays. I had to clean those as well. There was some kind of dark brown liquid spilled on the floor just under the frig. I didn't even try to clean that it was so gross. There were no dishes/glasses in the cabinet but I found them in the dishwasher. The shower in the master bathroom had long, black hairs stuck to the wall and floor. The corners were filthy. No soap, one roll of toilet paper and bath rugs that needed vacuuming or at least a good shaking. The info we received the day we checked in said that there was no TV service but there were DVDs and a DVD player. The problem was there was NO cable connecting the DVD player to the TV.

Deceiving Description/Uncleanly
Positive: Secluded location, close to town and backyard fires pit area was enjoyable. Negative: After recent “1 star” ratings of how uncleanly the house was, we personally contacted the owner asking if they could make sure the house would be clean upon arrival. We were told they were very happy with their cleaning service. Please be advised that all the one star reviews you are seeing are correct! We spent an hour cleaning the refrigerator, stove top and counters so we could at least put our food on/in it. For a house that sleeps 10, we were provided a 4 cup coffee pot that took over 45 minutes to brew. Bathroom shower had black mold in it. Carpet upstairs was extremely stained throughout and one bedroom smelled like a dog had an accident cuz we had to open the window due to the smell. The carpet on the stairs is pulling away which is dangerous. The pictures need to be updated. The furniture and decor does not look anything like what’s being presented. We rent approx. 6 houses a year and this by far was the biggest disappointment. From the misrepresentation to the lack of the owner not addressing any of their renters concerns, this is definitely not worth the money we paid. It’s a real shame cuz with a little effort and better consideration towards your renters, this could be a nice place.

Great spot off the beaten path
LOVED our stay here! Plenty of room for a large group of friends and it feels secluded and private even though it's right in the heart of Mackinaw City. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were nice. We even made friends with the chipmunk in the yard. Would absolutely stay here again!

Don't rent this house unless all you plan to do here is sleep.
1. Dirty/sticky kitchen floor, dirty carpet on stairs and upstairs. 2. Back french doors in office can be easily opened from the outside even when "locked" because the top and bottom latches are broken. 3. Kitchen light over dining table doesn't work. 4. Don't plan to cook. Only one frying pan and one pot in the kitchen. 5. No glass glasses for drinking milk, juice, or wine. Only 10 plastic cups (I'm guessing one per person; wash or reuse your cup each time you get a drink). Very poorly stocked kitchen overall. 6. Lots of hotel hand towels and washcloths, but only 5 "bath" size towels of thin terrycloth common in cheap hotels---yet the house sleeps 10 people. 7. Only one key was given to us at check-in, and no departure instructions were given. 8. Photos shown on VRBO were probably from previous owner. New owner threw some minimal furniture in the house. No decor; no books on the bookshelves, no games or puzzles or typical items normally available for renters to use. 9. Only one small towel rod in upstairs bathroom, where 3 bedrooms (potentially sleeping 8) share the bathroom. Put up some hooks for the wet towels, please! 10. New owner didn't bother to remove picture hooks from walls, and obvious hasn't repainted or done anything to the house other than put furniture, towels, and a few dishes in it. 11. No wifi, but we knew that in advance. Except for the beds, this is by far the worst rental I have ever stayed in!
