This was our 14th stay at Wedmore. Normally we love to stay here, but this time it was disappointing. There was no internet and they seemed to be short on staff. The front desk was frequently vacant so we never found anyone to freshen up our towels or coffee supplies and we couldn’t get a menu for dinner from staff or online. The breakfast was poor compared to previous visits. I was hoping the return of a former chef meant better quiche than the previous one full of leftovers from the kitchen, but this stuff was tasteless. There was no fresh sliced fruit and the croissants were doughy from being in a chafing dish. On a positive note, as always, Barbara at Wedmore is the best! She helped us when she was there. Elsewhere, entire winery has succumbed to questionable changes made by the new owners and after being a visitor for over 25 years I am very upset by what they have done with the facility and the wine club.
