“This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in!!! It is so cute and clean and cozy! I love the restaurant downstairs, that was super convenient and very delicious! And the fact that it has a dj booth with a hangout area is so cool and helpful with meeting people! I would 1000x stay here again! I love the location as well. “We stayed two nights in Athens before our family reunion cruise. The hotel location is in center of Athens and just 10 minutes walk to the life style area of Plaka. The Olympic Games were held every four years throughout Classical Antiquity, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. The first Olympic Games were in honor of Zeus.
The Olympic Games (Greek: Ολυμπιακοί αγώνες , "Olympiakoi Agones") were a series of athletic competitions among representatives of city-states and one of the Panhellenic Games of Ancient Greece. They were held in honor of Zeus, and the Greeks gave them a mythological origin. Historical records indicate that they began in 950-776 BC in Olympia. They continued to be celebrated when Greece came under Roman rule, until the emperor Theodosius I suppressed them in 394 AD as part of the campaign to impose Christianity as the state religion of Rome. The games were held every four years, or olympiad, which became a unit of time in historical chronologies.
