Do you need to rent a car in Megeve, or is public transport enough?

While many people arrive by car for Megeve vacation packages with flights, you may not need one for your entire stay, especially if you plan to remain in the village and ski areas. The village center of Megeve is pedestrian-only, making it pleasant to explore on foot.

For reaching the slopes, five ski-bus lines operate through town and to most major lift stations, with fares often included in your lift pass. This makes getting around the immediate ski domain convenient without a personal vehicle.

However, a rental car can be useful for exploring beyond Megeve, such as taking day trips to nearby towns like Annecy or Geneva. The primary airport serving the region is Geneva (GVA-Cointrin Intl.).
