Did not recieve the bottle of wine on either of the two rooms I book, as advertised by expedia. Rooms we small, our shower was cold and the second room had loose door fixings and sockets that didnt work. We were given 2for1 drink vouchers on booking in, which were only for very limited drinks but there was no mention of this when given them only after trying to order were we told. Breakfast was great and the staff at breakfast were great too hence the 3 star or would have been 2.

The hotel is lovely. The breakfast was good. The rooms are clean. Despite being in a room facing the train tracks and Yarra River it was incredibly quiet. Highly recommended. The corner of Flinders and Elizabeth seems dirty and dangerous but if you avoid that, it is fine.

Our room was tiny. The design of the layout made it feel like a shoe box. No room for a bag. Had to open it on the bed/in the walkway. Room advertised with a view which it shouldn't be, you can't call that a view, especially compared to other hotels in Melbourne that actually have views. When i called the front desk to check we had the right room she said yes and that the other rooms look at concrete walls of neighbouring builings. So the bar is low! More like a small window with an obstructed "view".The window was also so grubby you could hardly see out of it. The staff we amazing and the lobby and bar great but accommodation too tiny. We ended up shortening the stay and booking elsewhere

We love the hotel desgn and location. Unfortunately this trip we had a major problem having our room serviced. Over the 6 nights we stayed our room was not serviced for 4 nights even with the tag put on the door.The manager offered to refund a nights accomodation which did not happen. We also paid a premium for a river view but found the noise unbearable as the trams and train were infront and there was no double glazing.

I was able to check in early, which was very helpfulnas we were heading to Philip Island for the day on a bus trip. The shower was a bit wonky and I was afraid I was going to break it, but it was ok. I did find a toenail clipping on the bathroom floor which was a bit off-putting. Overall it was a great place to stay for our needs.

Great base for exploring Melbourne
The hotel is in a great location for exploring Melbourne north and south of the river. It is only a few steps to a wide choice of eating places and located within the free tram zone. The staff were friendly and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a good view across the rail tracks of Flinders Station and the river. Our room was very quiet. We could occasionally hear the trains, but the sound was brief and heavily muted and did not disturb us. Room service food was very good, especially the lamb ribs! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rendezvous and it will be our first choice for accommodation when we return to Melbourne.

Whilst my stay was only for one evening, I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff at the Rendezvous. They were on hand to direct me to the hotel's Business Centre when I had an unexpected dilemma technology-wise. The hotel itself is just gorgeous with its old-world charm. It is maintained beautifully. It' proximity to Flinders Street Station and the tram routes is a bonus for those who need Melbourne's public transport system to get around.
