A medieval stronghold from the 13th century was ruined and in 1565-1578 the Moravian family of Žerotín rebuilt the place to a spacious renaisaince castle, which has not changed much up to the present. Buildings of so called "Vlašský dvůr" in the front area, an English park and a small French garden belong to the castle premises.
