Check in was simple and straightforward. Initially we were given a room with a bunkbed which was unsuitable for our needs. We were quickly given an alternative room which was much more suited. Breakfast however was a major disappointment. I ordered a full Irish breakfast unfortunately the fried eggs were very overdone. The bacon was the opposite sausages of a poor quality meant that I couldn’t bring myself to eat the breakfast. The hotel is clean but very dated - the 80s are alive and well in the Ardboyne Hotel. No HVAC, the king bed was two twins with a very pronounced, unfixable, and uncomfortable split. The tub/shower was shaped like a small canoe, making it difficult to stand in and the water was tepid at best without a serious struggle with the faucet. The rooms have a good amount of space, good sound proofing (had some noisy neighbors that you could here in the hall but not once in the room), loved the complimentary filtered water in the glass carafe. Breakfast is good and staff is friendly. The restaurant is very good with reasonable prices. You don’t even need a car to stay here if coming from Dublin. The bus drops you off close to the hotel. Also, was a brisk 18-20+minute walk to the main town where I went twice, for dinner and to catch the bus to spend the afternoon at Trim.
