Kick Back Cabin - The Original - fishing pond and trails

Tucked back in the woods, at the edge of 23 acres of a roughly 150 yr. old farm, this spacious, Amish built cabin built in 2006, is the ideal place to kick back and relax with friends or just your better half. Kick Back Cabin was originally the previous owner's art studio. With walking trails on the property that lead to a small creek and a fishing pond, the scenery is sure to inspire.

This cabin is also at the epicenter of the Hocking Hills region and all that it has to offer!

Short Get Away
If you are looking for a cozy, private get away, this is a wonderful spot! This is not a cluster of cabins where you have neighbors. It is private and deeper into the woods. Cell phone reception wasn’t great, but the point of being there was to disconnect, so that was fine with me. The owners have the cabin all set up for a dog with dog doors and fenced in areas. My dog is a rescue who isn’t good with other dogs, but we had acres to ourselves to walk trails. This is the first time he could be free to walk with us, and he loved it. I think he is most upset that we had to come back home! The cabin is light, airy and cozy. It’s secluded, but still within close proximity to grocery stores and restaurants. Although it rained during my stay, it was still a nice get away.

Perfect Getaway
This cabin was the perfect location for a nice weekend getaway in Nelsonville! It was secluded in nature, but close to everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the back deck and in the hot tub and enjoyed see all the wildlife!

Upkeep on building and property poor.
Loved the location, solitude, but upon arrival we were quite shocked by the condition of the cabin. First impression you open up the screen door and there were holes in screens and table and chairs on porch uninviting. We do love "quaintness"and normally don't consider ourselves as snobs. The internet was down 90% of time, so no use of tv or cell phones to look at weather, plan our hiking or biking. Bad to be so attached to these devises. Window seals were broken, curtain rods bent etc. We did love the high ceilings, necessary supplies, and especially loved sitting on back deck and swing. With just a few investments they could ask a bigger price to make cabin more appealing. Hosts were very kind and helpful.

We just returned and loved our stay at kick back cabin. This was the first time bringing out dogs and we loved how pet friendly the cabin was. Also, all the little things provided for our dogs: leash, food and water bowls. Convenient location, loved the trails and pins in property. Close to OU so our was able to visit one night. Even though it is just 1 bedroom, the sleeping options in the main room for the kids was great! Will stay here again! Or one of the owners other cabins!

Perfect getaway
My spouse and I found the cabin to be charming and comfortable. Has a rustic feel with a lot of amenities. Loved the porch swing and lounge swing. Outdoor firepit. Lots of seating around the cabin. The best part was the doggie door in the front and back. Both areas are gated in. Our dogs could go in and out as they wanted and we didnt have to worry. We dont even have this at home so our dogs loved this place. Lots of bright light facing a hill with ferns flowers and trees. Very pretty. Owners respond right away to questions or concerns. Beds were very comfortable. Would return again.

Great Ohio Hills Away
Great Ohio get away near Athens, Lake Hope State Park, and Hocking Hills. Very clean and natural light. We enjoyed the private property trails. Very dog friendly.

Great cabin and cool property!
The cabin itself is really nice and so open so there’s tons of room! It had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast! There’s also lots of windows and the natural light is very nice!! It sits on a really cool property with hiking right outside the door! We even saw a few deer! Check in was easy and convenient.

Nice cozy cabin tucked away off the road in the woods, yet close enough to any and all attractions (Athens/Hocking/lake hope/etc) without being in the thick of things. Will stay again when visiting the region!

We will be back!
This was our second stay at this property. Affordable, great hosts, clean, simple but thoughtful amenities, & dog friendly. The bathroom subfloor needs replaced -- it's mushy in parts & the musty smell is noticeable in summer (not winter). Other than that, five stars! A favorite moment: after a downpour, we watched a painted box turtle make its way down the lane in front of the property. A riveting Oscar-worthy performance by our dog's estimation haha.

Kick Back and Relax
My wife and I along with 2 dogs really enjoyed our stay at Kick Back. If you have dogs, this cabin is built for their comfort and yours. Small fenced in backyard, fenced in deck area are all good for putting your mind at ease with fur babies in the woods. The Youtube tv was great for evenings after the hot tub. I thought I would miss having a wood burning fireplace but the gas fireplace kept us good and toasty on the cold nights. We explored a brewery in Athens(Little Fish), Moonville Tunnel and Lake Hope is just down the road. Ash Cave is about a half hour drive away. KBC delivered on all of our needs during our stay. The hosts were VERY responsive and accommodating as well. We hope to make it back and try KBC during the summer months.

my husband and I stayed here with our two sons (both under 2 years old) so all the windows and openness of the cabin were appreciated from a parent’s perspective as it made it very easy to always have eyes on them the kitchen had everything we needed despite being on the smaller side, and the gas fireplace kept us nice and warm in the middle of winter wonderful cabin, thank you for having us!

Great place to get away!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. You're only 10 minutes from Nelsonville so getting groceries and supplies is a breeze. Lake Hope State Park is just a few minutes drive with lots to explore. Hosts were great and quick to respond to any questions we had.

Relaxing Escape
My wife, son, and I couldn't be happier with our stay. When you don't hear traffic for minutes on end while standing outside, you know you're in the right place. The property trails were great to hike and the hot tub was certainly welcome with the cool temperatures. Although rainy, the cabin's fireplace kept us warm, and the movies kept us happy. I would refer this property to anyone wanting to get away. Hosts were accommodating and even decorated the place for the holidays. I can't say enough good things...if you stay here, you won't be disappointed.
