Cottage style at its best. Cozy, comfortable and affordable! Lake Michigan Public Beach, a short 3 miles away. Flower gardens surround this little charmer. Rest and relax in the cool shade of the giant sleeping willow. This house offers 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and sleeps 8 total.
Decorated in classic cottage style. The living room has a knotty pine vaulted ceiling with ceiling fan/light and loft area suitable for children with sleeping bags you provide. Flat screen TV/ DVD & Roku with free internet. A convertible queen sofa in the living room. Two bedrooms have comfortable queen beds, one has a set of comfortable bunk beds. Pack and play provided. All bedding provided. Bright and cheery kitchen includes all dishes, pots and pans, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, microwave and dishwasher. Kitchen dining seating for 6. Full bathroom has combination shower/ tub, and hair dryer and all towels provided. Washer and dryer is provided for your convenience. A 14 x 10 deck off the Kitchen overlooks the back yard and 24x30 fenced courtyard and fire pit, Hosta beds and hammock for relaxing in the afternoon. A fire in the evening and so-mores are a sure hit for all ages. Firewood is provided. New Central AC and new natural gas forced air furnace. Newly painted inside and out.
Enjoy New Buffalo Public Lake Michigan Beach which is a short 3 miles away. New Buffalo Public Beach, Michigan City Public Beach, Mount Baldy, Silver Beach & Warren Dunes State Park are all open to the public with inexpensive parking fees.

These homes can be rented together for large family gatherings. Please note, although this home is located on a busy highway and a business nearby that generates noise, it is close to New Buffalo and area attractions and affordable for the family and friends who most likely will be spending the day on adventures in the area.

This home is 5 blocks from Lake Michigan and has private association beach rights. All of our homes are well kept and are NOT party houses! They are intended for family and friends. Well behaved children are always welcome.
We are conveniently located 3 miles from downtown New Buffalo. 2 miles from Whittaker Woods golf course. 7 miles from Blue Chip Casino, Four Winds Casino Is about 5 miles. Calumet trail is about 8 miles. Light house Mall outlet shopping, International Friendship Gardens, Winery tours, antique stores, farmer markets, U pick farms, romantic picnics. So much to do in the area.
We are located 60 miles from Chicago. 35 miles from South Bend In Notre Dame. Amtrak stops in New Buffalo 3 miles from the house. The South Shore train stops in Michigan City, about 8 miles from the house. An easy day trip.
New Buffalo has a slower relaxed pace in late fall and winter We rent throughout the year. Fall and winter can be a very beautiful and relaxing time to take a break. The fall colors can be amazing. Many restaurants offer discounts. Winters can be a absolute gorgeous, serene winter wonderland. This is really the best time to kick back, relax and take some much-needed time for yourself!

Kids loved the cat!
My husband and I came with two of our grandchildren, ages 3 and 4 to play at the beach. We were hoping to hang out at New Buffalo Beach, but it was very small with limited parking. We went to Warren Dunes State Park instead-a bit further to drive, but more spacious beach. Unfortunately due to weather, we only had part of 2 days at the beach. Our hosts had made suggestions of other activities to do with the kids, which we really appreciated (and needed)! The kids loved the Heston Steam train and the smaller gauge train in Indiana, Oink’s and the Galien River Trail and Lookout! Our cottage was very clean and comfortable-Jan’s flowers around all the properties and gorgeous! Den’s concrete work is cute and creative. The business next door has a huge grey tabby cat that came to visit one morning and made himself right at home on laps! The kids thought he was cute! I appreciated Jan making suggestions for groceries-very helpful and not too far of a drive. Just a suggestion: a pair of kitchen shears and sharp knife in the kitchen and a new dustpan. Beds were comfortable; we enjoyed the deck, fire pit area and the hammock! Truly appreciated Jan and Den’s property and will return.

Cute place!
We had two families of four staying at Sleeping Willows, and although it was a little tight, it was an excellent stay. The loft area was perfect for the kids to play in (aged 4-8) and there was some space in the backyard to play. The kids loved watching for the train every time it came by. It's both convenient and dangerous to be right off the main highway, but the kids were old enough to know not to wander near the road. The garden was beautiful, well-kept, and almost magical! The fire pit and deck were great places to gather. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend it to anyone with kids. Thanks to Jan, our host, who made the process really easy and was always within reach!

Perfect Weekend Getaway
Jan was a great host! The house was clean and inviting. We loved the backyard and patio space with the grill and firepit. The location is a short drive from Chicago and a few minutes down the road to downtown New Buffalo. We had everything we needed during our stay and Jan was very helpful in giving recommendations. Highly recommend for groups looking for a weekend getaway!

Good location between dunes
Convenient location between Indiana and Warren State Dunes parks with easy access to local beaches. House is small but charming with enough space and very clean. We changed our vacation plans and were able to book last minute. It is right off Michigan Ave and train tracks are across the street so it can be noisy outside and there's a business next door. The garden was cute I would have liked a bench or swing amongst the flowers. There were some very nice wooded walking paths to the rear of the property we enjoyed. My kids enjoyed the hammock and it was pleasant to enjoy a bonfire one night. My kids loved the bunkbeds and loft area and my son did not want to leave. It was a good rest after long days at the beach and dune climbing. Jan was a wonderful host and very easy to reach with any questions.

Perfect
Perfect location to many beaches. Perfect back porch and fire pit area. Perfect beds and bedrooms for 5 adults and 3 ( ages 8 to 11) kids. Perfect area to ride bikes just across the street. We had a stupendous time.

Bachelorette Party Stay

A Lovely Little Place
Jan was wonderful to rent from. The house is darling and very clean. It is close to the highway and the railroad tracks, so bring your ear plugs to ensure comfy sleeping.

Relaxing, comfortable home away from home!!
We checked into the sleeping willow cottage for a quick 4 day getaway and this place was perfect!! Jan was wonderful at check in and gave us lots of ideas of things to do near by with the kids. The outside of the home was beautiful. Lots of lovely scenery with the willow trees, flowers, and plants beautifully decorated throughout. We all enjoyed the hammock and the fire pit was perfect for making s'mores! Overall we had a great time and we are already talking about plans to go back next year!!!!

We loved everything about this house. It was perfect for our little getaway with the kids. We enjoyed the fireplace and hammock. The kids loved climbing up to the loft. We enjoyed our stay! It was close to downtown New Buffalo which had nice shops lining a walk down to the beach. The backyard was like an English garden with flowers everywhere. The kids liked the loft, the cat and playing board games. Highlights: Blueberry farm in South Haven, Warren Dunes. On a busy street.

Cute little property with great host!
This place was adorable, perfect for groups of 6 or less. The property is off the highway but tucked away nicely and when you’re out back it feels very private. The outdoor space was great (loved the hammock!) and the house was very clean. It was a quick drive to a lot of local breweries and there are a few different beach options close by. Jan was responsive, friendly and very accommodating. I would rent from her again for sure!

Great cottage for family
We had a group of 5 teenage girls and 3 moms. The house was very clean and the garden area was beautiful. We took many pictures in the garden area. Three of the girls slept with sleeping bags and 2 blow up air mattresses in the loft area. We had plenty of hot water for showers, but needed a couple of extra towels for showering purposes. We utilized the golf cart for the beach area. We drove down close to the beach and parked the golf cart at the beach location. There was no one else near the area on the beach since it was later in the day. You could walk to the beach, but we recommend driving down and parking closer since you have to pass a busy street and it is a bit of a distance. We utilized the back porch for our morning breakfast and chatting area. Jan was very helpful with providing us with several suggestions on where to eat. We were attending a concert in South Bend and visited Bob's 19th Hole. We had an excellent stay and we highly recommend to other. There is a Dollar General store close to purchase items you forget. The WiFi was a little spotty at times, but all the kids were trying to use it at one time. There were plenty of dishes and cookware to utilize. The only thing missing was an iron and ironing board. We would highly recommend for a family or group to stay in the cottage. We are planning on a return visit next year, but may need to rent another property of Jan's due to size of group.

Charming Cottage
This charming cottage was the perfect place for a fun weekend getaway. We rented this house for a wedding we were attending in New Buffalo over the weekend. The location was perfect, we were able to get to and from all of the wedding events very easily and quickly. The owners of the property were so nice and accommodating! The house had everything we needed and the backyard is so cute and peaceful. This is a great place for a family to stay or a few friends looking for a weekend escape. We will be back, we loved New Buffalo and what it had to offer.

Great property, but too close to a busy highway
This property would be a perfect place to stay in New Buffalo if it was not right next to a busy highway. Upon our request, the owners brought over two window fans we used to block out the highway noise so we slept better the rest of our stay. The backyard is gorgeous with amazing landscaping and a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows. The home itself is clean and well maintained. The kids loved the loft and we were able to make them a bed with some lawn chair cushions. Bring an air mattress and it is a perfect place for kids to sleep. The beds were comfortable and everything (including the air conditioning) worked well. We had no trouble with the Wi-Fi service and there was always a good connection. The private beach access is a nice touch, but the beach itself was a bit rocky instead of sandy. However the kids loved playing in the waves and finding cool rocks. The New Buffalo public beach is $12 admission and can get pretty crowded on the weekends, but if you get there by 11am you are sure to get a parking spot. One the best days there was spent at Warren Dunes Park/beach about 20 minutes east of the property. White sand beaches and blue water. We kept forgetting we were by a lake because it felt like we were by an ocean. We also found a really cool park nearby called Galien River County Park with easy trails and a cool overlook tower. We enjoyed BBQ at New Buffalo Bills and ice cream at Oink's. Overall a great 4 days in Michigan with lots of fun memories. Thanks to Jan and her husband for their responsiveness to our questions and requests for recommendations.
