The property has multiple faces. The actual cabins are very nice but the lodge and motel area are just rooms, which are very old and not the cleanest. Our room had a door that was falling apart and a deadbolt that did not work unless you messed with it for about 2 minutes each night. More than 50 percent of the cabins of Mackinaw are not cabins but rather old hotel rooms that have not been remodeled

For the price our room should have been much cleaner and better kept. We couldn’t find an outlet that wasn’t shot and our cord kept in the socket. Was not very impressed. Water park had algae all over the floor. The first night we got there the lights in the water park were off while all the kids were playing, it was dangerously dark.

The Cabins were nice, however it seems like they need to upgrade parts of the room. The bathroom had a leek under the sink and there was mold in the wood under the sink. There was also mold under the hand rail in the shower.

There was a mushroom growing in the bathroom floor. The room had several baby spiders hanging from the ceiling. The carpet was damp. The tv didn’t work.

It’s fine for what it is. Cheap for the area so get what you pay for. Very poor lighting in the “cabin” which wasn’t a stand alone cabin like I reserved. No towels in the bathroom either. The use of the waterpark and pool were nice for the kids. Walking distance to the docks. So that was great.

They didn’t clean the cabin. We had no blinds in the kitchen. Cob webs everywhere and spiders everywhere. Carpet was so dirty. The bathroom was nasty. Just all around dirty. Could not sleep because of all the loud noises. Water park was so dirty. Windows had mildew and nasty stuff all over. Our outside lights didn’t even work. Had problems with the light inside the cabin as well. Too close to everyone. No privacy at all.

We thought we rented a cabin, they said no you rented a standard room. The room was horrible! I told the lady at the desk I will not stay in that room. I asked to find me a cabin, like I thought I rented and they were booked. So, I called Expedia and after an hour on the phone, I got a refund for all but the cancellation fee of $150. I am done booking on Expedia. If I were working with the property directly I would have gotten a full refund.

Very walkable to the ferry to Mackinaw Island. The room was outdated and not deeply cleaned. The floor was damp. The door would not seal completely and the wood on the door was breaking off. The bathtub did not have a plug for a bath, there was a giant clump of old hair in the shower drain stopping it up, there was black gunk around the jacuzzi spouts in the tub, and there was soap clogging up the sink. The sheets had stains on them. There was brown spots/dirt on the ceiling around the edges. The water park area was fun for the kids, but the pool and slides never get scrubbed, so there is a brown tinge on all the surfaces. You can find better deals online for the ferry than what they offer in the office. Would not choose this location in the future.
