This place was awful. We walked in and could not stand to stay there. For the first time in my life, I had to walk away. It was dirty, gross and stank! They would not refund our money but we luckily found another hotel to stay in. Do yourself a favour and google this place before you book it. They currently are under a court order submitted by the Ministry of Public Safety requiring them to take copies of customers id because of prior issues.

Such an amazingly poor workmanship in everything: repairs, construction such drywall repairs without sanding and without painting, shelves not sanded; beds not really made properly .... I don't see often this kind of work. I guess there is not much thought for the comfort or convenience of the guests.

Did not like the fact that there was no signage at the motel indicating its name. No where on the property was there a sign saying Highland Motel - except for a typed up note with the name on the office door. Drove past 3 times before realizing it was the Highland Motel.

This motel looks way hetter on the inside than the outside. It looks somewhat rundown, but ince you get into your room, it is quite pleasant. You can tell that they are trying to do improvements and updates, but it is a process i imagine. Some tile work is brand new in the bathroom and the floors and fixtures are new. Painting still needs to be done. Overall a comfortable stay and would sray there again.

Property was dirty inside and out…hair left in shower. Bed appeared to be made of misc. bed parts and lumber…we didn’t stay, this was the only motel I ever refused to stay in. Stay clear.

It was convenient for catching the Newfoundland ferry but the room could have used better curtains as they did not close completely and the lights were shining in your face. Beds were very firm too firm.

The motel is located at a convenient spot to board the ferry to new foundland. The room was alright though. The room had all the amenities and a very helpful staff however we could still smell smoke. The smell was not too overwhelming but we could still smell it.

The owners/staff were very accommodating and helpful and friendly, given that our check-in was very late at night. The room was rather shabby but clean enough. One bed was rickety and both beds require new mattresses. Our stay was very short because we had to catch the Ferry to Port aux Basques. Therefore, the location of the Highland was very convenient.
