About this property

2 Bed in Roughton (oc-1734)

  • Nestled on the edge of a traditional rural Norfolk village, surrounded by stunning field views, this lovingly renovated former coach and cart shed boasts a wonderfully peaceful location perfect for friends and families to explore the Norfolk countryside and the fabulously sandy coastline just a stone’s throw away.

A high vaulted ceiling and underfloor heating in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner create a warm and soothing atmosphere which invites you to cook up a storm with your local produce in the contemporary kitchen, make special family memories planning tomorrow’s adventure seated around the farmhouse-style dining table and unwind on the comfy sofas as you catch up on your favourite programme on the Smart TV. As day turns to dusk, retreat to either of the two beautifully presented bedrooms to admire wonderful views across the surrounding rolling countryside that’ll send you into a peaceful snooze before tomorrow’s adventure. Soak up the last of the evening’s sunshine by dining alfresco on the patio in the enclosed lawned garden before enjoying a refreshing dip in the shared heated indoor swimming pool; there’s also a shared children’s play area perfect for little ones to let off some steam before bedtime.

The rural village of Roughton is surrounded by wonderfully unspoilt countryside to explore on foot or two wheels, nestled just under 2 miles from Cromer, offering everything you’d expect to find at the coast, from a long sandy beach backed by colourful huts to a fabulous pier home to the country’s only remaining end-of-the-pier variety show. History lovers can while away an afternoon exploring the 17th-century hall, walled gardens and 380 acres of woodland at Felbrigg Hall 2.5 miles away whilst thrill seekers can scale the high ropes courses and zip wires at Hilltop Outdoor Adventure 4.5 miles away in nearby Sheringham.

Brilliant location & amenities

We found the property itself a little gloomy with quite a few bugs and cobwebs, perhaps because we visited at the end of season? The beds were reasonably comfortable but the pillows were awful. Kitchen and utensils provided were good. The welcoming gift was really nice, providing fresh coffee and quality muesli and a small carton of milk. Unfortunately, in the bathroom, the shower base was rather dilapidated and this spoilt our overall impression. The swimming pool was lovely and clean and was enjoyed by all of us. The property is ideally situated for visiting the coast and we had a lovely few hours in Overstrand.
