"I think it's a really great place to stay for the price. The owners seem really hard working and were friendly and had good customer service. It wasn't perfectly clean and wasn't a five star hotel but it's not fair to expect that for the price. The atmosphere in the pub with the rugby game on was cool and it was a nice place for dinner both nights of our stay. Definitely would stay here again. Loved it. Excellent value."

"Conveniently located property with clean, basic accommodations quite well suited for what I needed. Helpful and friendly staff. No on-site gym but a quick 5 minute walk to a well equipped health club with which the hotel has an arrangement ffor guests to use (24/7) at quite a reasonable fee. A variety of dining options in the area. Small kitchen in my unit -- also in a building with a larger kitchen and community lounge. My room (basic studio) did not have a closet or a dresser, but had shelving I could use for clothes so was not an issue."

"Drifter is central to everything in Christchurch. They have embraced technology with a phone app to access the elevator and room. Themed rooms for movies, yoga and a kitchen meant all needs are catered for. I'll pack my yoga clothes for my next visit. We enjoyed the food in the bar area. It was noisy up until midnight, so pack your ear plugs for a weekend stay."

"The room was clean and tidy. We did have a good stay at the Halswell and will stay again. A couple of things. One of the lamps wasn't working. We turned the fridge off as it was very noisy and there was no door handle on the outside of our door. These are all minor, and as I said we will stay again."
