Ideal location for a beach holiday or touring

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Pros: We especially enjoyed being serenaded in the bar and at dinner in the Olive Tree café.
Cons: The menu at the Olive tree café needs to be changed more often
Location: Local busses and taxis were cheap and frequent
As elderly holidaymakers we couldn't fault the hotel.

Excellent Hotel

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Pros: Location is very good for most visitors, car hire, bus service outside the door, taxis galore, within walking distance of the harbour/ shopping centre
Cons: Beach access could be improved, rather rocky and shingle to negotiate when accessing sea.
Location: As above, All forms of transport available nearby, local restaurants and shops close by
Very well run hotel with highly trained and pleasant staff. Hotel manager always visible and hands on. Restaurants offer extensive variety and well presented range of food catering for all preferences. The housekeeping staff work exceptionally hard and are constantly changing bed linen and towels, in fact it would be hard to criticize the hotel as a whole. If I had to single out one item of excellence it would have to be the high level of staff training which is becoming more of a rarity these days. Thank you for a wonderful holiday experience

Best hotel in Paphos

Posted Jul 2, 2017
Pros: absolutely everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Facing the sea. Lots of nearby bars and restaurants to choose from
Just returned from a fantastic stay at the Athena Royal Beach. Great food, great position, Adult only means it is quiet but as you can use facalities at the next door sister hotel the Athena Beach, you can still get involved with activities. Then return to your own hotel for peace and quiet. Most people have returned to this hotel more than 5 times! We certainly will

A really good location. Adults only

Posted Jun 1, 2017
Pros: Food, location, staff, pool and grounds
Cons: Not a lot
Location: Pafos is accessible by bus or on foot. Further a field requires a car. Plenty of activities and sites to see within a reasonable distance.
A great hotel. Staff were really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean and hotel prices reasonable. Only negative comment would be the lack of beach access, shoreline is predominantly rocky, but hotel does have a floating pontoon so is still possible to swim in the sea. Highly recommended.

Great adult only holiday

Posted May 29, 2017
Brilliant early summer holiday. So many returning guests testament to the excellent management and staff. Great food and grounds kept immaculate. Especially like the 1/2 prices drinks happy hour before dinner. Definitely a 5 star hotel stay. New rooms are superb and looking at returning next May already.

Great adults only hotel

Posted Apr 18, 2017 on Hotels
Great hotel. 3 outdoor pools and 1 heated pool. Plenty of loungers available. Adults only, so it's nice and peaceful. Free parking. Very helpful staff. Food was good as well. Slight downside- the partial sea view rooms closer to the lifts have very poor views - facing the neighbouring hotel buildings. In the mornings, it can be noisy- kitchen noises and a few mornings we experienced sewerage smells through the balcony if the doors are left open.

High quality amazing service from the staff

I would like to tell everyone this was terrible.(Just so not many people go and we can keep it a secret) The truth be told it was just what the doctor ordered. We have an initial glitch with the room allocation but this was quickly solved by the management. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Food was very good. (first morning approached by an English lady heading home who said food was not amazing) I was after first day a little confused and wondered if she had been eating elsewhere. My husband is on a strict diet and this was easily catered for. If you are not wanting to venture out a little like us it is worth exploring the all inclusive package as buffet lunch is 21 Euros for the buffet and think this would be a more cost effective option. Would we return... That is a big yes.

Over seventy and into bowls? Perfect.

Posted Nov 7, 2016
Pros: The breakfast buffet was generous and varied. The double bed was large and comfortable and the main outdoor pool was a good size.
Cons: The rooms are characterless and old fashioned. The amenities are geared to the 'mature' guest including dire sing-along-a-Max style entertainment.
Location: The hotel is a brisk 20 minutes walk from the harbour which is where Paphos life begins. Boat trips are a must as are the mosaics.
I booked an Adults Only hotel to escape screaming children but by the end of the holiday the prospect of noisy toddlers seemed distinctly welcome. The hotel is pleasant ,quiet and clean but has old-fashioned, dull decor and furnishings (net curtains, really?) and amenities chosen to soothe rather than to stimulate. The average age of other guests was at least 70 and the two main activities catered for were snoozing on sun-loungers and bowls. There were, count them, three bowls pitches but not a single tennis court or ping pong table. The opportunity to soak up some Cyprus sun in November was a treat but this hotel is not for younger couples wanting a little more excitement than extreme R&R! The hotel's beach is very disappointing being a scrubby strip of gravelly sand segueing into rock- strewn, seaweed- dominated shallows. Save your sea bathing for the numerous boat trips departing from Paphos Harbour which allow for a swimming stop by the much more attractive Coral Bay.

Exotic Marigold Hotel in Cyprus

Posted Oct 7, 2016 on Hotels
If you are an independent traveller and always looking for the next really interesting location, Cyprus and this hotel are not for you. If you want to go away and feel like you are in the UK, but with great weather, Paphos and this hotel will suit you to a tee. We fit into the former category and had gone to Cyprus for a wedding. Chose this hotel on the basis of what it looked like and that it said 'no children under 16'. Did not realise this meant hardly any people under 60! After a bit of a hassle over the room - it is not a good idea to stay in this sort of hotel if you are not staying for at least a week and do not have a food 'package' - we settled in. Nice room, good bathroom and not a bad breakfast buffet except there was not much which said you were in Cyprus except for one type of cheese and carob syrup. This was definitely older Brits on holiday with not much that was foreign. This is what Paphos and this hotel are like. Is it harsh? Maybe, but true. Good bits: direct access to the lovely sea, several pools, good service for drinks in the evening on the balconies. But don't go off piste - tried to go for a late swim after a day out and were not allowed in the pool after the sun went down. Oh well.
