Inn owner was lovely and the location was ideal for walks and visiting nearby towns. However, the mattress in the comfort room was very uncomfortable and unfortunately did disturb our sleep. The tv was also located in an awkward position in the room so we ended up dragging furniture to get it more central. On the other hand, the room was spacious and clean. The hosts Nikki and Alan are the best. Nothing and I mean nothing is too much trouble for them. From stepping through the door they made us feel welcome. Nikki upgraded our room and changed our tv as the one in the room needed re-tuning. The food is excellent, the steak pie and fish and chips are Devine. The breakfast is certainly enough to keep you going all day! The staff Liz and Sue are so friendly. The bed was cozy and comfortable and the room nice and quiet. We will certainly recommend the Troutbeck Inn to all of our family and friends. Will we return? You can bet your life that we will! Only sorry we couldn’t have stayed longer and can’t wait to return! Staff were rude & we felt unwelcome. Food was overpriced & like a microwave ready meal. The place was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned in months. We checked out early. Our twin room was tastefully furnished blending old and modern. It was comfortable but the bathroom could have been cleaner (cobwebs). The food served in the restaurant was good. The cooked breakfast was very good but the accompanying cereal and toast was a mean portion. Overall our stay was very pleasant as was the owner and staff.
