The man at the front desk (so sorry, I am terrible with names!) was very friendly and accommodating. He called us around 9 pm to see if we knew what time we would be checking in. We were driving there from PA, and we still had two more hours to go. This was no issue for him; he just asked that we call when we get there, which we did, and he came right out and unlocked the door for us.
Check-in was simple and brief. He even made sure we knew how to get to the beach (for the following day), which is super easy to get to from here.
The room was clean (in appearance and I didn't see any bugs) and included an apartment sized fridge/freezer as well as a microwave. It also had a coffee maker with a few packs of coffee supplied. The bed was comfortable and there were a few different kinds of pillows to choose from, which was appreciated.
There is a Waffle House literally right next door. (It is chilly inside, so take a hoodie if you don't like the cold.)
The only time we heard our neighbors was for maybe five minutes total, on and off, when their dog was outside and excited about something, so (s)he was barking. It wasn't early though, and we were already up and getting ready to go to the beach, so it didn't bother us at all.
I would recommend taking an ice tray because we had a really difficult time finding cold water to drink, not just at the hotel, but even in the surrounding area. I did not realize cold drinking water would be so difficult to find.
