Playa de Mogan
Relax in the sun with a cold drink or paddle kayaks around the small bay of Playa de Mogan. View colorful fish swimming by the breakwater as luxury yachts come and go from the small harbor.
Playa de Mogan’s soft, golden sand has been transported from the Sahara Desert. Rent sun chairs and umbrellas, purchase a refreshing drink from one of the beach kiosks and prepare for a long day’s relaxation.
When the sun gets too hot, swim in the clear, refreshing water. The bay at Playa de Mogan is almost completely enclosed by the harbor and breakwater, making it a safe and fun place to swim. The calm water is also popular with an array of sea life. Rent a snorkel and discover schools of fish that search for food close to the breakwater.
You can also get out on the water at Playa de Mogan. Rent Jet Skis to explore the nearby coastline. For something more serene, rent a kayak or paddleboat.
Stroll around the curved bay to the harbor where you can watch the fishing boats as they return to their moorings. Finally, make your way along the promenade to one of the waterfront restaurants. Eat tapas and fresh fish or try one of the excellent Italian or Chinese restaurants. Several bars stay open late into the evening. Enjoy a few drinks and then stroll back to your hotel along the sand and look up for spectacular views of the stars above.
Playa de Mogan is the biggest beach in the town of Puerto de Mogan, the most westerly resort on the south coast of Gran Canaria. It is a 50-minute drive from Las Palmas. Consider staying at one of the hotels and apartments located just a short walk from the beach.
