The hotel is decorated very modern and airy. The service was lacking which i believe is the sign of the times - difficulty finding help, new employees with not enough training or employees that are not vested in the company. Check in was slow. Only one person at the desk and someone else in an office behind them. The reception person was answering the phones and trying to help me check in at the same time - not her fault entirely, but either she should’ve ask the person in the back to assist or the person in the back should have answered the phones while the reception person checked us is. Reception forgot to give us the breakfast vouchers or tell me how breakfast works. I assumed it was buffet, but it was not. The next day my husband and i were wondering in the breakfast area trying to figure out if they were bringing the buffet out or what was happening. Workers in the breakfast area were clueless, no acknowledgment to us while trying to figure out. I went to the reception area to find out if we had access to breakfast or not, person provided us with 2 vouchers which he explained were either for the American style breakfast or for a la carte breakfast. We went to place our orders for two omelettes and those were satisfactory. Non-caffeinated coffee not available. Food was dropped near the 3rd Fl elevator, food still there after breakfast even though cleaning crew was in 3rd Fl cleaning/vacuuming. I stayed in the Hilton Latham 2 weeks ago & experience better.

Off to a not so favorable start—but ended well.
There were two issues in our room. The remote control for the TV was working, and the toilet wouldn’t go down. The person from the front desk had to come and move the wires around on the TV supply us with another remote control. the toilet water wouldn’t go down so the same person from the front desk bought us up a plunger so that my husband could unclog. While both issues were resolved, I feel for the amount of money we paid for the night, the room should have had a quality check. But, we would definitely stay there again. The rooms were nice and clean, and everyone was friendly.

We were dismayed by the extra charge of some $25.00 in case we damaged something. That was very disturbing as we have been customers of this hotel several times. There were no apologies. We realize we will get a credit for it. Also, for paying $178 for the room and have to pay 8:00 for a continental breakfast was too much when it used to be free. We will not be staying with the Hilton chain in the future!

Room was basic, bed was a bit soft. Pillows were not good. Too unsupportive. Asked for firmer pillows and was told that’s all they have. Otherwise, it was clean and orderly.
