I spoke with a staff member the next morning and they said they would investigate and call me back…of course no return call. I guess the next guest will have the same problem! Our beach bungalow: the internal privacy door was gone, sliding door badly needed oiling & the handle was filthy, the bathroom had cockroaches, the door was badly water damaged & window ledges had splinters with paint coming off. Shower screen had massive lime scale build up. The kitchenette no longer had any tea towels, detergent, cleaning cloths,had missing & mismatched crockery/ cutlery, but now you’re meant to use the restaurant exclusively for food.The hammock was unusable. It was wet when we arrived, so we waited for it to dry, but it was so musty, the smell clung to your skin. We asked for it to be swapped with one from an empty bungalow, the pleasant but under resourced staff member gave an automatic no- the go to answer when you have no manager. Beware that you are now expected to stay overnight at Airlie Beach, because the reception closes at 5.30pm, as the resort & the water taxi DON’T coordinate with the few daily flights into Proserpine.
