Anthony’s is a great place for a dive vacation. Their wonderful staff made everything so easy (airport transfer, diving, meals at the resort or in town) that I am glad I chose to stay there on my first visit to Roatan, Honduras.
Love AK!
I have not been AK in more than 20 years, and I love how they have modernized, the property.
However, if you not a diver, which I’m not… There isn’t much to do there. I was on a relaxing mode for a couple of nights, so it was great for that, but don ’t know if I could do a week there.
I’m a beach person, so I walked the beach outside of the hotel. I went to the gate and then to the right. I walked for more than 30 minutes, until I reached an end point, and the beach was not nice at all, not to me anyway. So, it was hotel pool time. Their Pool is nice.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Anthony's Key with just a couple of exceptions. We chose this location for its beautiful cabins right on the water and safety. And this place really checks the boxes on beauty, cleanliness, and helpful staff. However food options are very limited to their single breakfast, lunch, and dinner location, or the bar restaurant with limited times. Other food options require transportation as the roads are to crazy to navigate on our own. Now I understand this part is on me for choosing the location and not the resorts fault. However, keep in mind what you are looking for when booking. We did not scuba dive but this is the perfect place for a diver.
Let me say, the only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 is simply because we could feel the racism from the staff as Honduran-Americans over more “American” looking guests. It was very hurtful and did not make me feel comfortable as a guest in the hotel. Other than that, the place itself is beyond gorgeous and when my family and I were alone swimming we had lots of fun. The kayak staff was incredibly friendly though and an amazing person! I would recommend staying here but be aware that unless you’re speaking in English, lots of staff including the snack shop cashier and the receptionist will treat you like they’re annoyed at your mere presence.
We had such a fabulous time starting our Roatan vacation at Anthony’s. We didn’t dive ( like most people do).The staff was so over the top friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and cute. We started at the hillside for a few days and then moved over to Anthony’s Key. Both were equally great for different reasons. We had our meals included and everything was delicious and such great service. We did snorkel and enjoyed some right off the property. We paid to snorkel with the dolphins which was such a great experience and even on our other days would take the boat over to Baileys Key just to watch the dolphins play and to grr in the water from that key. I e had fun with the game room and the kayaks and paddle boards. We will definitely be back!
My family’s first time to the island and AKR.
Everything was clean and well run. Rooms very comfortable and we spent a lot of time in the hammocks as well.
Pick up and drop off at the airport is down to a science.
This is a dive resort, there are other activities for non divers, but the schedule of meals:activities do revolve around dive boat schedules- so time for breakfast before the first dive and time for dinner after a night dive.
We never went hungry, and always left food on our plate! Large portions and plenty of options on the meal plan. Actual restaurant meals, not buffet style like most meal plan packages. My son highly recommends the chocolate cake -lol.
Staff were all friendly and took excellent care of us. Arranged for a tour and a quick run to the grocery at our request.
The dive center is well run, everyone gets a locker at the dock to stash their gear, there are dunk tanks, and I felt safe through the entire process.
This is away from the crowds of west end and more relaxed, which we prefer.
Comparing the wide type of hotels, this would not be considered a luxury hotel. But if you are a scuba diver, then this is as close to luxury as you will find. They have tons of boats, so can accomodate a huge group of divers. Staff across the board were helpful and friendly. Service was generally quite fast, again considering the number of customers they had. I also enjoyed the food and drinks.
Staff is very friendly. Diving is excellent. Overwater bungalows are nice, especially the decks on the water with hammocks. Good snorkeling. Grounds are well kept. Free transportation to and from the airport. Gorgeous reef nearby makes for spectacular diving and snorkeling.
Unbelievable experience! Bungalows over the water are amazing, The staff is friendly and accommodating. We are foodies and everything was absolutely delicious. A totally relaxing vacation. There was no stress booking activities. You can do as much or as little as you want. Snorkeling even right off the resort is world class. Swimming with a baby dolphin unforgettable. Night snorkeling, island party on Wed evening - do not miss. Highly recommend resort. We will be back.
Absolutely Incredible resort! We were met at the airport by hotel staff. Took the shuttle and our bags were waiting for us at the cabin on the small island. Room was fantastic, right on the snorkeling beach. Very clean, comfortable bed. The resort has a fantastic dining area and exceptionally friendly staff. Food was delicious, fresh and quick. Perry, Steven, Erick and Marcos in the dining area were courteous and welcoming. Part of the resort has a separate island with the option to swim with the dolphins, and the boat drivers Connor and Kevin were great. Managers Yolanda and Melloney were awesome! Highly recommend!
We were upgraded to the key side of Anthony's got ocean front was amaxing. Food all good we split our meals we didnt do all inclusive and saved money. People great and all dive staff.
It was so nice to have an overwater bungalow on a small private island with tropical gardens and great scuba diving and snorkeling on the surrounding reef. Will definitely be going back again and again.
Thank you all for a gorgeous unbelievable stay at Anthony Keys Resort! Gizmo and Georgie made me so HAPPY! I loved swimming with them. The staff is so wonderful. I will go back to visit for sure. --Lisi
Not only do you get to enjoy a piece of paradise the staff truly made the experience even better. You end up feeling more like friends than just a tourist they help throughout your stay. The experience of the island and locals reminds you that life can be simple, fun and relaxed. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you Anthony Keys for creating an experience that makes us want to come back every year.
Excellent staff everywhere. Dive operation run efficiently.
Well organized.
Not a fan of dolphins in captivity or dependent on food source.
No orientation as we did not arrive on a Sunday
