Tranquil settingPosted Sep 7, 2015
Pros: Peaceful and quiet. The friendly staff who made you feel at home!
Cons: Pool area needs to be tidied up. e.g. boards need to be re-nailed, pools re-painted, broken outdoor furniture replaced (not repaired as beyond that)
Location: Far enough away from the main area of Apia but close enough to be there within 10 mins.
A very quiet peaceful setting with friendly and helpful staff. The food was good especially the oka (raw fish) and the banana fritters & ice-cream for desert! Though the pool area and outdoor furniture could do with a bit of maintenance, the hotel offers value for money.

Well-kept hotel and convenient locationPosted Aug 21, 2015
Our stay at the Orator was very pleasant and we found it to be a convenient drive to downtown Apia. It is up a little higher in the countryside so it also feels a little cooler up there. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and everything was very clean and well-kept. It is very quiet but still a short drive to the hustle and bustle of downtown Apia.

There are nicer places to stay - DONT STAY HERE.Posted Aug 9, 2015
Breakfast was terrible, no bacon, poorly cooked eggs, if you got eggs and vegemite that expired in Aug 2014. They serve you fried rice, fish stew and stir fry for breakfast!! They cannot cook eggs. Dogs and cats roam freely and pester you whilst you eat begging for food ir when you are trying to relax by the pool. The staff are lazy, smile rarely and spend more time talking to each other rather than doing their job. Poor Management is to blame. The music played whilst eating at meal times was too loud and songs we can listen to back home, I would have preferred some Samoan music whilst I was holidaying! The pool is in desperate need if repair, my kids ended up with scratches and cuts. The pool area isn't cleaned properly and tables have cigarette ash on them and the floor boards were worse. The place is a smokers paradise! This place has potential but unfortunately no idea how to provide good service.

Well Presented, Oasis in the junglePosted Jun 21, 2015 on Wotif
We were just here for our first night in Samoa and it rained buckets! But kids still swam, pools are great but beware the surface is a bit rough and can graze easily ( knees, chin etc). Beautifully kept surrounds and buildings. Pretty good value if you can get special rates, as rooms nice inside, bathroom very nice showers look cool though didn't use ( walls out of mosaic rocks). Paths and steps can be a bit slippery as on slope, but it was very wet. Restaurant okay, though a bit dark struggled to see menu and food! Breakfast very adequate. All quite grand but just looked a bit empty and sad- probably there on a quiet day.

Nice plants and sicluded area.Posted Jun 12, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: The staff, plant life , pool table and the swimming pool.
Cons: Swimming pool,TV reception and the Wi Fi.
Location: Location well...it's not beside the beach but that's ok close to town with supermarket 3mins down the road is good. No complaints.
Upon arrival we were surprised with a complimentary juice drink waiting for us and a friendly welcome from the staff. We immediately loved the plant life setting that covered the hotel area. Very beautiful. The room was nice and simple with the staff letting us know how to contact reception and the free shuttle rides to Apia. The shower tap could do with a little work where it would be hot then straight away cold with out no warm selection plus the shower drainage needed to drain a little faster. The pool was very nice in colour but my kids would complain about the rough sand surface where it should be smooth all around inside. The kids menu was well priced but not for its quality. Macarroni n cheese, pizza and the gourmet hotdog just looked like a home meal that could be done by school kids. Adults dinner was superb. Loved it. But it would be helpful to have the whole menu available. The eating area had a few annoying cats so that needs a look at. Now the Wi-Fi offer needs a demanding upgrade, something better than just an hour usage payment like Aggie greys $100 for 3 days and the TV reception needs a better look with a kids channel at least. Other than that the staff was very nice and helpful.
