Little Italy Amazingness
This is a good place for one or two people; it's a snug one bedroom apartment in an absolutely amazing location! You can walk out the door and down the street to be on the busiest street in Little Italy (India St) which is packed with restaurants, breweries, coffee houses, wine shops, and more. I highly recommend the cheese wheel pasta and the pizza at Monello (Bencotto also has cheese wheel pasta, but no pizza.) You can walk to the Little Italy Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings-I recommend the chorizo crepe with egg (cash only) and the tamales. Aron the host is great! He goes above and beyond with recommendations and suggestions on anything you are looking to do and is very responsive and helpful. He is very knowledgeable about visiting Mexico. We ended up visiting Tijuana with Wild Foodie Tours instead of by ourselves (which I also highly recommend). There is an MTS Trolley (the commuter train) station within walking distance. We used that to go to the border at San Ysidro-it's not a short ride, but it's nice to not have to drive. You can hear some noise in the condo from India St, but the place is pretty well sound proofed and it never bothered us. The ac does not distribute very well. You can really feel it in the main area, but it does not get to the bedroom too well. Keep the bathroom door closed all the time to help cool the bedroom more. We were able to get mail and packages delivered to the condo easily. Something to watch out for: if you don't close the entrance door to the condo by hand, it will slam shut quicker than you might expect. Also, there was work being done in the building for the second half of our stay, so we noticed a lot of extra dust coming in during that time. My husband worked from the condo while we were there with no issues from the fast internet through Zoom calls and all. The parking spot was great and secure. Even though the bedroom did not have complete blackout shades, they did a decent job keeping the light low in the morning. We did not have success using the shared grills for the building because they were heavily used and out of gas when we tried. We had luck using the small gym in the building, but it seemed to get busier later in the evening. Aron also had nice, classy touches to his place like crystal wine glasses and pyrex containers. This place is a phenomenal deal in an awesome location in San Diego, and we would definitely recommend it to others and stay here again ourselves!
