Barcelo Santiago has primo location in Puerto
Santiago and stunning views of the little giants (Mirador Los Gigantes). The property is situated away from the beach and in a more quiet inlet.
Front Desk: We wish everyone at the front desk is as efficient, helpful and friendly as "Enrique" from Cuba.
F&B: Aside from the pool bar, there is only one restaurant. Servers' job seems to be primarily cleaning and setting tables. Guests have to line up to get coffee/tea at breakfast. Some ingredients are reused for another dish at a later meal, i.e. roasted drumsticks from lunch were reused for a curried dish at dinner. Stale sliced bread from another meal appeared on top of fresh ones in bread baskets at the next meal time. Kitchen staff had pushed dish carts into me more than one occasion at the buffet line. Some drinks are only available at the pool bar.
Property: Barcelo Santiago is not brand new, but it was renovated in 2006 and it is very clean. I wish there are bigger, better situated and designed, and more bathrooms to handle so many guests in this smaller building. Plumbing scent is in the lobby across from the front desk, across from the restaurant, and in the best room we stayed.
We are overall very happy to have found this property for a few nights to end our 3 week long vacation in Europe. We focused on enjoying the outdoors and the views at Barcelo Santiago.
