"This was a no-frills, simple hotel. It was a great value, and was clean, quiet, and relaxing. The staff were so kind, and laid back. The view from the patio in our room was lovely. The shared kitchen area was a nice place to cook a meal, and there were three adorable cats around the property who we loved petting. The location was great for exploring various parts of Pico. "

"Very lovely stand alone small homes in a tranquil forest setting. Lovely to hear the birds in the morning. Staff was so nice to communicate with especially after our ferry from Faial was cancelled due to poor weather. Home was very clean and we'll equipped with a kitchen and everything we could need. We made friends with a little grey cat that patrolled around the grounds, she was charming. Location in São Roque was close enough to anything we could need and a good central point for our island...

"We stayed in the Susete Apartment fo 3 mihts on Pico Island. Basically a 1 bedroom with kitchen which was great for cooking and prepping food fo day trips. Miguel is an excellent host and easy to contact, apartment was clean and conveneont for day tripping around Pico. Thanks Miguel!"

"The air was very damp and smelled like mold. There was indeed some black mold on the shower curtain and on the window curtain. Everything felt slightly damp in the room including our pillows. It was therefore extremely uncomfortable and hard to sleep. We woke up in the morning feeling nausea presumably because of the disgusting air. There was also a door to the outside that rattled loudly every time a gust of wind blew which also made it hard to sleep. Overall I would recommend finding different...

"Comfortable room. Wish we had a double bed instead of two twin beds. Being off season, wished we were offered an upgrade. Sofa in room quite out dated and not suitable for sitting. Spa area is awkward…a pool in the centre of a room with no working jets. None of the saunas were open. Nice public seating areas with spectacular view of Pico! Pool table and small library offered great place to wait out the rain and have a little relaxing time. Surprised to be billed for drinking the water left in...

The hostes is extremely nice and you'll feel at ease, like you know her for a long time. She gave us a map with the main attractions and restaurants. All the restaurants she listed were spor on. The room is very spacious, and has great amenities. With a full kitchen. It's in a good location 5 minutes form Madalena. Don't think you can't get much better than this."

Portugal's highest mountain! Mt. Pico in Azores Islandsl! Pico Island was my last day in the Azores and it was my only day there. A great way to end my March 2019 trip. This majestic volcano is 2,351 m (7,713 ft) above sea level, and is one of the highest Atlantic mountains; it is more than twice the elevation of any other peak in the Azores. And there are breathtaking views from all across the small volcanic island. I got many good shots of it, including this one. I took a tour around some parts of the island, before flying out of the Azores that day. It was a really great way to end this trip! And this being one of the best spots to see the volcano. It's an idyllic lake view! There was even some birds in the water :). Also, Pico doesn't have nearly as many tourists as the main Azores island. Which makes this all the more peaceful. And in the tradition of the Portuguese poet, Raul Brandão, Pico is referred to as the Ilha Preta ("Black Island"), for its black volcanic earth, responsible for its UNESCO-designated historical vineyards that allowed the development of the island. If anyone goes to the Azores I really recommend a stay on Pico!
