About this property
LOG Cabin, 5 miles from town, but very country setting
This cute log cabin was built by my grandparents about 35 years ago. The cabin is a little over 5 miles from downtown Somerset, and about 30 minutes from the lake. Play golf up the road at Eagle's Nest Country Club if you don't want to go to the lake, or play a round before the monthly car show. The road is a residential road, with little traffic. Area is very quite, and gets dark, but night time is a great for a time to gather around the fire pit in the back yard. There is enough room in the front to park several cars, and enough room to park the boat when you pull it out of the water.
House also has a pack-n-play in the master closet.
House includes a charcoal grill. Fire wood for the fire pit can be purchased locally if there is none in the back yard.
The master bedroom has a queen bed with ample room, sleeps 2. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a twin on top and a full on the bottom, sleeping 3. There is a sleeper sofa in the livingroom, sleeping 2 there as well.
Laundry facilities are also in the bathroom.
House does have internet, as well as a roku with YouTube TV in the livingroom. As well as a firestick with YouTubeTV in the master bedroom.
No smoking is allowed in the house. However, there is an ash tray provided on the front and back porch.
Located in Somerset, this vacation home is in a rural area and near a water park. Flashback Theater Company and Joe Ford Amphitheatre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Carnegie Community Arts Center and SomerSplash. Jet skiing and kayaking offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with mountain biking and ecotours nearby. Visit our Somerset travel guide

Aaron made this trip run smoothly for us. Everything we expected to be available for us was there. We knew he was available if needed and the seclusion was perfect. We will return in the future.
Such a great little cozy cabin. It has all the necessities needed for a comfortable stay without all the high end items (especially with younger kiddos).
This is the second time we have stayed and would love to come back again.
This cabin is located in such a peaceful setting. I think we counted about 10 cars that drove by in the 4 days we were there. The cabin was cute and cozy.
We really enjoyed our stay this past weekend. We hauled a vehicle for the cruise in and had plenty of room for the truck and trailer. Our ONLY negative was that the carpet was a bit worn in places, but the place was so clean and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay!
Easy to get to town. Was disappointed in the paranormal museum. Was more like a big foot museum. Cute old downtown area. Beautiful area for summertime with lots of trees and trails not as much to do in the spring. Overall a nice relaxing place to stay.
It was a nice cabin overall. The carpet was torn in some places as well as worn and well used, and some other cosmetic issues, but it did not detract from my enjoying myself in the peace and quiet.
I did sit outside for some time and took it easy on the wooden bench, it was nice watching the wildlife.
We absolutely loved the home. We were amazed that this beautiful home was built by the grandparents. I enjoyed the digital pictures and knowing the history of the family. It was so beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. The location was perfect. Aaron was so amazing and accommodating. We travel a lot but this has been our favorite home by far. We will definitely stay at this location again. My whole family gives it a 5 star.
It was a cozy 2 bedroom cabin close enough to town to run out for dinner but far enough away to have a quiet country feel. The small road its on has such little traffic you could count the daily cars on one hand. The bed was so comfortable Im now tasked to find one for home. Cell service was spotty for 2 of the 3 carriers we had but the wifi compensated allowing easy access to call home and check on the kids. It was a very nice get away and the host was very thoughtful and accommodating offering suggestions for dinner venues. It's definitely on our short lists of favorite places to stay.
PROS: Full of character & charm. The property is exactly as listed. Great value for families. Well equipped with all the amenities for a stay with families.
CONS: Furnishings are dated & well used, carpet very stained & well worn (I’m sure it’s clean but because the carpent is so worn and has several stains, it feels dirty,)
We've stayed here before and it is comfortable and economical, and for us the location is ideal at 2 miles from my mother in law's.The cabin is quaint with pastoral views and tranquility abounds. The beds are reasonably comfy and the accommodations more than adequate. My only complaint was that basic details were overlooked - objectivity brings fresh eyes that the owner may have become "noseblind" to.The front doormat is very sad, the mouse in the trap under the sink was long dead, the outdoor chairs and table were filthy, I had to adust the outdoor light strings to plug together, all candles were burnt down, and we had to hunt for the horse shoes. VRBO charges a nominal cleaning fee - I don’t usually leave a property significantly better than I found it - and that is a shame. Surely Grandma would take a little more pride in her Place. Thanks for having us.
I needed a place to stay and celebrate Christmas with my daughter that lives in Somerset. I wanted something that would feel "homey" for the holiday and this was definitely it! We enjoyed cooking meals-there is nothing you need aside from groceries! We enjoyed sitting by a fire in the back yard, the road is very nice to take a walk on, no traffic to speak of. Just as it states, it is only a few miles outside of town but feels very remote, which I loved. I saw some reviews about outdated things, but honestly, it was exactly as described-a cabin look and feel. If I wanted updated and fancy, I could have stayed in a fancy hotel. I will definitely stay here again when I visit town. Aaron, thank you for the hospitality and having such a perfect little get away rental!
We had the best time staying at Grandma's Peace. You are far enough away from the town to enjoy the peace and quiet but close enough to get anything you need. We were basically just at the house to shower and sleep. It seemed to have any kitchen amenities you would need. There was plenty of toys/books and board ganes for the kids. Putaide thereare bokes and a scooter to ride. The outside looked very relaxing but the mosquitoes were terrible and we had a newborn with is so I didn'tget to enjoy it with the family. The futon bed in the master bedroom was perfect for middle of the night feeds without waking anyone else. Our only complaint is the water pressure isn't great but you cam have that anywhere. The sweet neighbor dogs came over to play and our 1 year old loved them. She kept calling him Big Dog.
