The main falls in rock island state park are a site to see. They stretch a few hundred feet wide! Slowly cascading down a side of a rock faced wall. It is a short but tenuous hike to see the falls. But, they are some of the best you can see in the south east. Maybe not the tallest or most water flowing, but it is a beautiful, slow, and pooling fall. As an added bonus the river it flows into is controlled by a dam, so you can at times get up to the waterfall, and at other times raft the river which I'm guessing is a class 3-4. A friend of mine has rafted it from the northern most spot to put in to the falls, and he said it was technical, he's done it a few times now.

“Great little cabin for a quiet getaway. Host was super and responded to messages almost instantly. Was having hard time keeping fireplace going so we sent host message asking about some more seasoned wood which they responded AND had some wood delivered in 15 minutes. Cabin leaves nothing to want as it is well supplied and easy to find everything with little notes everywhere to help make your stay a real pleasure. Hoping to book again in the spring or summer to visit waterfalls in the area.……

“This is an absolute gem! Talk about unplugging with family and friends and enjoying the outdoors! We rode trails on our golf carts- fished, played pickleball, basketball, card games, bucket golf, our dogs ran and played! We cooked wonderful meals in the outdoor kitchen area- enjoyed the fire pits- made smores- jumped on the trampoline and so much more! We can’t wait to go back! “The cabin is in a quiet location, surrounded by farm pastures and a stream. The cabin was enough space for the two of us to enjoy. The kitchen was well furnished with everything we would need to prepare a meal, there’s also a grill for outdoor cooking. There’s a porch on the front or back to enjoy, with seating. The manager of the property was very responsive to our messages. We are definitely adding this to a place to return to.”
