"This is a fabulous property. Gwen is amazing. I’ve been staying at this hotel for over 20 years as my wife’s family lives less than 10m away. The hotel includes free parking, an amazing all you can eat breakfast (free if Marriott Platinum) and amazing staff. (Did I mention Gwen?). They are so helpful and providing you anything you need during your stay. For the price, it’s the best hotel in the north Manchester area. IMHO. "

"This was my third stay at the Ascott and I will keep coming back whenever I visit my family in Manchester. As an American I very much appreciate the things that make it different from the big hotel chains. It is quiet, it is personal, it is comfortable and to me “very British” which is a good thing. The rooms are all different in style and decor. They are comfortable tho and have all the features and amenities described. The overall feel of the hotel is that of a large comfortable home, not the cookie cutter institutional style of hotel chains. Breakfast is available and served in either a sunny breakfast nook or a larger sitting room. There are several menu choices but I always have the English Breakfast - which is tasty and a satisfying way to start the day. The inn keeper and his team are friendly and welcoming. A few things to keep in mind. Pay attention to the check in hours- it’s a small inn so make sure you check in during the hours noted. Once you have your keys you can come and go as you please. There is off street parking but don’t hog the space - be respectful of the guests who will need to squeeze in after you. If you do want breakfast, reserve it when you make your room reservation - they plan and purchase accordingly so have little flexibility for last minute changes. If you are planning to have a noisy gathering during your stay, you should look elsewhere - this is a place for a quiet rest to prepare for a busy day!"

"Renovations were going on inside the hotel- these did not phase my stay. The cleaner and desk clerk were very accommodating and got me a kettle for my usual morning tea. He also sorted the tv. I was given a room choice- upstairs or down and it was warm and clean so very comfortable for my stay. Very much paying for what you get but would recommend if needing to be close to Salford. Plus the desk clerk knew a taxi man that gave me a great deal when travelling to see my daughter further towards Manchester City centre!"

"Great hotel with free parking. Easy access by car or public transport into Manchester. My room was lovely and bright and very big. There were 2 parties taking place in the hotel during my stay, I wondered if I would be disturbed by noise, but my room was very quiet and I didn’t need to worry. Lovely friendly staff. I would definitely use again. "
