The historical aspect is undeniable but it only goes so far when comfort and enjoyment is affected. The property is in need of updating. The bed, while charming, was lumpy with a huge mound down the center. Extreme water hammer in the shower would not stop.

This is a classic and beautiful old inn. Staff is warm and hospitable. Decor should be updated and the collections of books and china thinned out. The restaurant and tavern offer a variety of options.

hotel front desk rep excellent, elevator valet excellent, as well as maintenance in handling a stuck closet door. restaurant staff sub par hostess through waitress. a $65 filet mignon with runny mashed potatoes and 4 teeny pieces of asparagus was absolutely tasteless. kudos to bus boy wearing a boot. attentive, personable and really trying hard to do a great job!

Red Lion Inn is an old stand-by with convenient access to Sturbridge events. Flowers there are gorgeous. But if you are looking for modern amenities like reliable internet, in room streaming and fitness facilities, choose another property.

Loved the pool areas with rec-room and lounge area. Also we just had a beautiful room with the most comfy beds we had slept in for weeks at the time. Only problem was that we didn't get to stay longer, and we will make sure to do so next time.

Revisiting this icon where we had not been since we were kids. The charm remains, the staff is excellent, the food and cocktails/wine great. They have options for hearing live music in their renovated den. The bedroom in the extended building was quite disappointing however. Very dated, doesn’t function well for modern travelers: bathroom tub was tough to get in and out and bathroom not organized for products. Overall a well run icon, hopefully some more upgrades continue to modernize rooms.
