Stuart Island is primarily an outdoor and family-friendly destination, known for its adventure activities and attractions that cater to families. It offers a natural setting for a Stuart Island vacation.

Travelers planning a Stuart Island vacation should expect a focus on outdoor exploration and activities suitable for all ages, rather than a traditional beach holiday or a trip centered on cultural landmarks.

For a Stuart Island vacation, the most direct access is via Stuart Island's own Nanook Lodge Seaplane Base (YRR). This option typically involves seaplane transfers from larger hubs.

Alternatively, travelers can fly into regional airports like Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) in Comox, BC, or Campbell River Airport (YBL) in Campbell River, BC. These serve as broader gateways to the area, requiring onward travel by ferry or smaller aircraft to reach Stuart Island.
