More than just its beautiful beach, this lively coastal suburb offers trendy cafés and bars, plenty of culture and a famous lifestyle.

Bondi is not so much a place as a romantic idea, a word that conjures up sea, sand and sun. The myth is true. Visit Bondi to explore the beach and its surrounding streets and discover a range of attractions for body and mind. Appreciate local art and architecture, sample coffee and healthy food or simply relax on the well-known beach.

Head straight to Bondi Beach to find a place on the golden sand, preferably under an umbrella. Swim in areas marked between red-and-yellow flags, which are patrolled by lifesavers from the famous Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club.

Paddle laps in saltwater in the picturesque Bondi Icebergs ocean pool or take the kids to the adjacent wading pool. Try surfing at one of the accredited year-round surf schools. Stroll leisurely down the boardwalk and check out the action at the skate park.

Visit the Bondi Pavilion, which was built in 1929 and houses showers and changing rooms as well as an art gallery, a theater and a recording studio. Buy a cold drink at the kiosk and relax at a picnic table on the surrounding grass.

There is much more to Bondi than the beach. Explore the boutiques, cafés and restaurants along Campbell Parade and adjoining streets to get a taste for the iconic Bondi lifestyle. Admire the neighborhood’s architectural mix, particularly the contrast of ultra-modern buildings with charming art deco brick constructions.

Browse jewelry, clothes and vintage treasures at the Bondi Markets, held every Sunday.

Plan your visit to coincide with one of Bondi’s seasonal events, such as Sculpture by the Sea or the Latin America Festival.

Travel to Bondi from central Sydney by taking the train to Bondi Junction and switching to a beach-bound bus. Parking near the beach is mostly metered and in high demand. After seeing Bondi, continue your coastal adventure by following the trail along stunning cliffs and beaches to Coogee Beach.
