For Tena vacation packages with flights, local taxis and bus services are available for getting around, though a rental car offers more flexibility for exploring the wider natural area. Small yellow truck-taxis are abundant within the city for local trips. Regular bus service connects Tena to Quito (UIO-Mariscal Sucre Intl.), with the journey taking about 4 hours, while private transport from Quito typically takes about 3 to 3.5 hours.

Given Tena's identity as an outdoor and nature destination, a rental car can be beneficial for reaching attractions outside the immediate town area, such as the Cayambe Coca Ecological Reserve or Volcán Cayambe.

Tena vacation package hotels are generally located a short distance from the town center, offering convenient access to both local amenities and natural attractions. For example, Hostería Las Heliconias is about 4 miles from central Tena, providing a balance between town access and a natural setting. Similarly, Hostal Tena Ñaui is situated about 5 miles from central Tena. These locations allow travelers to easily explore the surrounding rainforest and rivers while having a comfortable base.
