It is located in 2.388 meters altitude on the south side of Tuxer Kamm range which is parallel to the main Zillertal range on the border of Austria and Italy (in the picture it is the range in the background covered with low clouds). The hut offers some 70 beds to tourists who can access it either from the lake bellow or the neighbouring huts. Olperer hut was built in 1881 and it was totally reconstructed to its modern look in 2007.
