"I had been called back to work a few days early from a vacation in Florida. As it happened, I had left one location and was headed to another, so I just turned the car north and headed home. I hadn't thought of where I might stay when nightfall came. As it turned out, I was entering the Atlanta maelstrom when I realized I might not find anything before exhaustion set in. The NBA All-Star game was being played in the city, and statewide events had filled hotels north of town. But I happened to call the Courtyard by Marriott and get the proprietor, who asked me to wait a moment, then came back on the line to say he had a room for me. As it turns out, his hotel was completing remodeling and he had one room that was about to open -- and so he opened it, and discounted the price without prompting. He really could have charged full price; the cosmetic issues were minuscule. "The room was clean Water pressure was low Beds are rather hard and uncomfortable. Maybe a pillow topper could help some. I suggest you might want to use your own pillows. Outside property ok. There was some small pieces of trash on the ground.
