This year has been one of the warmest winters we've had in Japan, thus the lack of snow. But thankfully most of the courses had new snowfall a few days before we went. Location: Gunma prefecture Best to come by car, it's a 2-3 hr drive from Tokyo. (Parking on weekends are free if you have more than 4 people in the car!) It's said to be best suited for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, but there are several courses for advanced and beginners, too. It's not as crowded as other more popular ski resorts and because there are so many advanced skiers, we had a great time snowboarding down several courses and didn't have a any trouble getting around. There are a number of famous mountains to be seen, including Mount Fuji on a clear day if you're lucky!
