The overall experience was in one word shocking. People were living out of their cars and out of their rooms near the end of the building. It looked like something out of Trailer Park Boys with people working on their vehicles and grilling in the parking lot while drinking. Doors to rooms were wide open and toys, clothes, garbage was spilling out. The pool was even more of a disaster, and no one was adhering to the Covid capacity or mask rules. By the smell of bleach in the pool, it seemed it had been treated, but the water was cloudy. Two police patrols came in that night to the area where people were grilling (we were not aware whether there were arrests), but people were partying and screaming all night long in the halls. Upon check out I observed the hotel staff in the midst of an exhausting exchange where they were attempting to remove guests from the hotel grounds (I did not envy the staff or the pejoratives being screamed at them.) I don't know if this has been typical of this hotel, but the whole experience was shocking for a Quality Inn experience, and a hotel in Traverse City.
