Booked for a hen weekend
The host was so tentative and welcoming, and then left us to enjoy the lovely property. There were 13 of us and we all had a lovely time. The dining arrangements in the kitchen were great and allowed us to all sit together to eat. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge area was comfortable. The games room was the added bonus and it was lovely to sit outside on the seating area with table. The only comment was the lack of mirrors for all the women trying to get ready at once lol. The en-suites off each room was great though. Would highly recommend this property

Fabulous Family Holiday
We stayed at the barn over Christmas and New Year with our family of 14. The barn is a wonderful size and happily accommodated everyone. The online photos and description could do with updating as there have been some changes since. The barn is well equipped and has the majority of things you would need. Some areas of the barn require updating and a little TLC and I have notified the owner accordingly. I would concider staying again but only if my recommendations were taken on board and the adverts updated to show a true reflection.

Christmas at the Big Barn
We were a party of 8 adults 4 children from 3 - 12 yrs and two dogs. We found the property to be spacious, well furnished and a fully equiped kitchen for the chef's amongst us to be happy. The Christmas meal was enjoyed and was easily prepared in the spacious kitchen. The bedrooms were comfy and warm, each with it's own en-suite which meant no quarrels first thing in the morning!! A delightful stay , thank you to Sandra and family.

Very pleased with the property. Suited all ages. Games room was a big hit. Oven kept cutting out but not a great problem. New induction hob requires more suitable pans. Shame there are not more walks direct from the property but easy access by car to sites in North Devon.

Absolutely faultless
Amazing Christmas with family and friends, house was very equipped and made Christmas Dinner a breeze. Walks by the river were lovely despite the rain. Hosts told us to treat the house as a home, really relaxed. Everyone who stayed rated it 10 out of 10. Would definitely recommend .

Lovely family stay.
Really enjoyed our stay at the barn, a lovely, spacious property. The beds were comfy, good room sizes, well equipped kitchen. Lovely walk down to the riverside direct from the property.

Fantastic Find
The Barn was beautiful, the bedrooms were lovely and the downstairs family space was very roomy. The enormous kitchen was well stocked with cookware. We spent every evening in the games room playing darts and cards or relaxing in the hot tub.

Nice property and plenty of equipment, our only comment would be that the grill didn't seem to eork and there were no instructions for how to use the oven and hob. Other than that it was a lovely place to stay

I am so sorry you had problems with the hob and oven. The hob is very sensitive only needing the slightest of touch . I will take on board and leave instructions for guests

Great space for a family get together.
Large and comfortable property, well appointed, great for large family gathering, especially if younger children are in tow. The four bedrooms upstairs are all en-suite, large, light and airy. The downstairs bedroom is next to a room with toilet and wash basin, but a shower would be useful downstairs. In general, the property could do with a little TLC, quite a few cobwebs (but then it is converted barn), couple of things not working or missing, like lights, but I'm sure we had drawn it to the attnetion of the owners they would have attented to them. The adjoining barn/games room with hot tub, darts board, table tennis and kids snooker table is a good bonus. Comfortable patio furniture and a fire pit makes for pleasant evenings spent outside. The garden could do with a little attention, flower borders and mown grass would have been nice. But all in all we had a splendid time and went away happy.

Celebration of a big birthday
Booking online was straight forward- good location with river, sheep and forested valley. Close to local petrol station/ shop and Umberleigh Train Station, with Instow beach 25 minutes/ South Molton array of food shops away. Comfortable bedrooms (no downstairs shower room), two lovely lounges and huge kitchen / diner. Great hot tub, games and secure garden for children and dogs. Highly recommend ordering a big pot meal or 3 course meal from Judy, delivered to your door - delicious!

Great time away with my mates!!
My mates and I had a great time away in this property. Everything was as we expected! The hot tub and outside area was great for our large group. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen also catered for everyone too. Thank you very much Pip & John :)

Dirty, dusty, dated
Level of cleanliness very below standard. Bathroom full of mould. Bedrooms full of cobwebs, spiders and dust, Kitchen was OK but all the cooking trays etc full of grease and not cleaned properly. Hundreds of flys all the time with no reason as to why? Nice big house lovely hottub but very dated. Sofas very worn and dirty. Bedding and towels were clean and fresh. No ceiling lights in the bedrooms only lamps making it very dark in the evening.

Hi Carly. I am so sorry you were unhappy with the big barn. In response I continue to update regularly with 3 new bathrooms fitted this February, I do however apologise about the end bathroom it was all ready to go but due to unforeseen problems with the Plummer it couldn’t be completed in time. The spiders are harvest spiders which no matter how hard you try they will keep coming back in an very old barn as with the flies, as advertised it’s a working farm where flies are inevitable! I shall certainly tell the cleaners about the greasy pans! Kind regards

Fantastic rural retreat
We stayed for bank holiday weekend in May and we’re amazed by all the facilities available thanks to Jon and Philippa. Lovely surrounding views, a petrol station short drive away and Barnstaple only 15 mins away. Games room and kitchen are great for socialising.

50th Birthday weekend
Our Birthday weekend at Weirmarsh Big Barn was fantastic. We received a warm welcome on arrival with John calling in to ensure we had everything that we needed. The Barn is a beautiful, spacious property which is clean, well equipped and presented to a high standard. The rural location is idyllic with the river a five minute walk away. I would most definitely recommend this property.

Lovely home for gatherings
A great place to get together with family/friends. Nice size bedrooms all with en-suite. Lots of seating for everyone in the lounge and dining areas. Kitchen fully stocked with equipment. Plenty to do with a walk to the River, games room, hot tub and there are books, DVDs and games to borrow.

It was a good stay could’ve been better
The location of the property is just of a narrow A road, so you cannot really walk anywhere as it’s a bit dangerous, but there is a river couple minutes walk away through the fields, with very brief walk along the river. The property could do with a bit of more cleaning, the beddings were fresh but apart from that there was dust in the drawers and the floor wasn’t clean on some places. There were A LOT of flies in the property when we arrived, the owner came couple of hours after we checked in and they brought us some sticky strips for the flies and we also used some fly killer spray to get rid of them (couldn’t get rid of them all), but this could have been done before we arrive at the property so we don’t have hundreds of flies to welcome us. We enjoyed the hot tub, table tennis and darts. One of the bathrooms didn’t had carpet in it just the under lay, it also had grippers with nails sticking out on the edges. Overall I’d say it’s a decent property but a little bit of more thought could make it better.

Dear Akshay, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I’m sorry the your stay was not 100% positive for you. There are plenty more walks on the farm so if only you had asked we could have shown you. I’m so sorry about the flies, we have experienced such an awful summer with them this year but noted to try to get rid of as many as possible before guests arrive. As mentioned when you arrived, the bathroom carpet had to be taken out because of the previous guests and I could not get a fitter in before you arrived, this has now been resolved. Lovely long weekend
Great house for a long weekend, much needed after lockdown! We were 7 adults and 2 babies. House is very big and really well set up for families given the option of double and single beds in rooms. All upstairs rooms have enquires which is great. Plenty of living room and dining room space. Hot tub is fab. Property is near the river although no real good walking routes directly from the house. You'd need to drive to access a long walking route. Some of the house is a little worn or showing it's age but this doesn't impact the stay (e.g. Bathrooms are carpeted, stairs are very worn etc) My only tip would be to bring extra essentials. It may be that we were the first in the house after lockdown but we had to go out to buy ketchup, Cling film and foil, Cooking oil and a few other bits as these weren't provided.

As a large group who book to spend a few days together every year the property location and facilities were perfect! We had so much space for us all and everything we needed was in the property! Fabulous house
This house was absolutely wonderful. For the last 10 years, we go away with our friends for New Year - Weirmarsh Barn has been without a doubt, the best house we have stayed in. The communal areas are perfect for adults and then a separate room for the kids :) The kitchen/dining area is so sociable. The kitchen is very well equipped without being cluttered. The bedrooms are all a great size, with ensuits and most of all the beds are very comfortable. The owners were always very quick in replying to messages. Can't recommend this house enough.

Wonderful property
We were 8 adults and 8 children, who stayed at Weirmarsh Big Barn. The property had everything we could possibly need, lots of space for the adults and children to spread out. A fantastic kitchen with a large dining table, which we used as our base room for the majority of our stay. The weather was glorious so we did go out and explore the surrounding area during the day and then returning to use the hot tub and games room during the evenings. Would love to come back next year!

Fantastic, spacious, well laid out, couldn’t fault it!
As a family of 9 adults and 6 children, we stayed here for a lovely weekend. House was huge, with plenty of space for us all. Beds were comfy and everywhere was clean and warm. The huge kitchen/diner was perfect for our celebrations, and having two lounges was great on a wet day, when some wanted to read and others watch a film. Games room and hot tub were very much enjoyed by everyone! We’ll return to check out the local walks (and pubs) very soon! And make sure you follow the directions for getting there and not the sat nav!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Met all our expectations, fabulous for a family stay.
Just arrived home from this lovely, homely barn, surrounded by fabulous countryside. We had plenty of room in this spacious barn conversion. The kitchen was enormous, well equipped and could sit 14 of us (3 very young children) comfortably. Children loved the pool table and table tennis and teenagers loved the jacuzzi. I had a wonderful 70th birthday with my children and grandchildren, even the 4 year old said, it's like one big family, as he ran around the house. Thank you for a wonderful stay and some very happy memories. The spiral staircase was a worry for small children however. Regards Linda.

Amazing house, had such a great time!
This house was amazing and exactly what we were looking for- spacious, lots of shared areas (2 living rooms) and enough beds for all of us! The hot tub was lovely and the games room was well used. Had a lovely few walks by the river nearby- even going for a swim, and went to the beach several times- about 40 mins away. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing
We were a party of 10 who spent 3 nights here in February to celebrate my birthday. The barn was extremely spacious and all the rooms very large with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. The children loved the small barn with table tennis, pool table and darts, and of course, the adults enjoyed the hot tub. We did book Weirmarsh Farm restaurant which we thought was about a mile away, but it does adjoin the barn and therefore no-one had to drive. I must say this was fantastic value and lovely home cooked food - so don't miss trying it. A super weekend was had by all - a truly memorable time.

Stayed here over Christmas with 8 adults and 6 children all facilities were good would highly recommend. Need the know that you should ignore sat navigation as the house is about a couple 100 yards further along main road.
