Excellent location. Room had everything needed. Would stay again.

On the plus side, room was clean and spacious. Reception and lifts were also clean and tidy. The issues that I had were staff and policy related. Welcome drink voucher had to be asked for, rather than presented at check in (poor that I had to remind staff that this perk was not presented) and it had been downgraded to one per visit (historically I used to get one free drink per night). Then I discovered when ordering at the bar that I could no longer get a pint of beer with the voucher (bottle only). When validating parking on my first day, I paid at reception and handed my ticket over for validation. Only when I attempted to leave the car park, which is across the road, the barrier would not raise and asked for another full payment. The ticket had not been validated by the staff member. When returning to get it validated properly, a meek apology was offered and nothing more. Some of these issues were raised through hotels.com to pass on to the manager, to which I am still awaiting reply. Normally this is my absolute go-to location when on business in the south west. After this visit, I will most likely be looking elsewhere in future as the value for money and standard of service by the team is below what I would expect, especially at £175 per night.

Another excellent stay at The Hotel Riviera. Good food & very friendly & helpful staff. I will be stopping there again.
