We opted for a standard double because we'd only really be sleeping there. There was plenty of space around the comfy bed, which was wider than the king-size we have at home. The bathroom was compact, not small but tight on space around the toilet and a fairly small shower.
The reception, breakfast and housekeeping staff were all very good. Breakfast was a good cold buffet. Plenty available and more than enough to fill us for the day ahead.
The only negative is that we could clearly hear conversations in the rooms around and above us. The other guests weren't noisy or up late, so it didn't cause us any problems.
There are no bars, restaurants nor grocery stores anywhere nearby. If you want to eat out in the evening (there's no restaurant at the hotel), the chances are that you're going to head to Piazza Bra. Pasta and pizza dishes for 10-12 euros, a little more for other options. Expect to pay around 6 euros for half a litre of beer or a glass of wine though.
The hotel is only a few minutes from the railway station; which makes it a great base for exploring further afield. If you use the regional expresses, you can get to Venice in an hour and a half for about 19 euros return. A 25 minute journey the other way will get you to Lake Garda for about 9 euros return.
Yes, there are ladies of the night in the vicinity. There were 3 regularly nearby, but they were fairly inconspicuous and if I hadn't read about them beforehand we might not have noticed. They weren't a problem.
