This hotel felt like I was catfished. The nice rooms you see online are not what you actually get if you book a standard room. If you reserve a standard room you will be in an old building that is completely separate from the modern hotel. It looks like an old, rundown wooden lodge. The window didn’t fully close, the room was cold, TV did not work, and bed was hard and uncomfortable. There also were not enough blankets. There is no soundproofing between the bedroom and bathroom and you will hear everything. The hallways are old, dark, dirty, and smell like cigarettes.

I recently stayed at Hotel Vík í Mýrdal and had an overall good experience. Check-in was quick and easy, which was a great start to my stay. The breakfast included was adequate, offering a decent variety to start the day. The Wi-Fi was reliable throughout my stay, which was important for me. The beds were comfortable, although a bit on the small side, and the rooms, while also small, were functional and met my needs. The shower was a bit compact but worked well. The hotel's location is convenient, with walking distance to local stores and restaurants, which made exploring the area easy. Overall, Hotel Vík í Mýrdal provided a pleasant stay with all the essentials covered.

This hotel exceeded expectations in every aspect. The room was comfortable and spacious enough for three people. The dining options were superb, with the lamb shank being the best I've had in Iceland. The staff were exceptional. Special thanks for accommodating my fathers birthday, he was so surprised!
