Many things went into disrepair in the past. The hotel is practically the entire town square. The workers I dealt with were clean, polite and very friendly. The ceilings are insanely high. (Keeping this place so clean has got to be impossible.) The walls in this place are very thin. I could here everything going on in the bar downstairs. I was very tired so I passed out quickly. I was startled awake at 1am by walking noises that felt like they went on forever. It was a couple walking to their room directly above me. They weren’t stomping about, just casually walking and it was loud as hell. When I got up to leave my room at six am I quietly walked down the hallway and could hear a guest sleeping. Not snoring, just breathing. If you are a heavy sleeper or wear ear plugs, it won’t be a hassle. If you keep in mind this was probably someone’s home at one time, the lack of a ton of modern amenities shouldn’t bother you at all. This place has a lot of history. I had no problem with the price, location, cleanliness or the staff. Tip1: The bar connected to the hotel is very enjoyable. It was dead in the afternoon but was real busy at night. Tip2: The ice cream shop that is also connected to the hotel makes some great ice cream. Love the ambiance of this older hotel. Loved the staircases, the antique furniture, the older portraits. Parking was not a problem at all. Love the history of the town it is set in.
