"A fantastic castle experience: it’s so much more interesting to stay in one than just looking. The staff were friendly and helpful and food was good too. There were a lot of stairs to negotiate to reach our top floor accommodation."

"We stay here for the annual sela cup and its the perfect base for st james park, the city centre and train station. The staff are always friendly and the bag storage even on departing is a godsend. Rooms are pleasant enough and the beds are comfy. "

"The food at breakfast was absolutely delicious,I had fruit to start and there was a large amount to chose from, there was unlimited tea and coffee staff brought my food to the pub part as I was unable to climb the stairs due to my disability, Evening meal was delicious I had chicken fajitas with everything on the plate to add to the meal I Also ordered proper chips which were delicious. The Bed was really really lovely and comfortable and the room was beautiful The staff couldn’t do enough for me and they were all polite and friendly and' I really loved my time at the moorings. "

The surroundings are idyllic with lavender fields, apple and plum trees as well as all the beaitiful plants Everywhere is immaculately maintained from the grounds to the restaurant and cottages. The staff were so kind and helpful . Would return in a heartbeat. "

"Perfectly sited for the Beamish museum, the property is split into several 'cottages', such that you're sharing the experience with several other groups of occupants, so not quite as much the total countryside as I had hoped. The conversion was clearly done some time back, such that there are a few outstanding maintenance jobs. Breakfast not included, but Louise provided milk on request."

"Lovely tranquil location amidst countryside, easy drive to nearby places of interest. Dog friendly. Well equipped kitchen, bathroom and cosy living room and bedroom with all amenities to make this a great home from home stay for a couple of days. Warm welcome, friendly, attentive service from Hilary and staff. 1 minute walk to cafe for excellent breakfast, which we ate outdoors in sunshine. Excellent value, with the bonus of a free pass to Beamish Museum, which saved us 50. Short drive / walk to nearby pub and restaurant, both with excellent food. Chinese takeaway also delivered promptly. We'd gladly recommend and return to any of the accommodations on this site "

"This is an excellent, value for money budget hotel. Most facilities are at par with what you would expect from a budget hotel but most outstanding feature is its very helpful staff. Adam is a star. He went above and beyond with anything we needed help with. All other staff we interacted with - Sumit, Helen, Caroline - were all very kind and helpful. Kudos to the management for hiring such awesome people. The next door pub waggon team is also an asset, good food at reasonable prices. Convenient location, felt safe, plenty of parking - couldn’t ask for more. "

"All en-suite rims are different. Heavy wooden bed, headboard and furniture. Small en-suite but fully functional and lovely shower. Will definitely stay again."

"The railway carriage was a lovely place for my dog and I to call home while we visited friends in Newcastle. Great walks on the doorstep and Newcastle is deceptively easy to get to.We visited the Column to Liberty at Gibside today that we could see from our window. Very well equipped for such a cosy space and the treats were much appreciated. Thank you "
