We picked the Hampton Inn Gonzales for our trip to the old Louisiana plantations. We had a great stay, and loved the free hot breakfast every morning. It is conveniently located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans! Rooms are nice and clean and roomy.

My family of 4 stayed here for a couple of nights when the pipes at our house busted. The room was spacious, with a separate ‘living’ area. It was clean, which is the most important thing to me when searching for a hotel. Couldn’t beat the price either.

The parking is excellent, convenient and very close to the hotel. I felt safe knowing that I could see my car from my room window. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Which area of White Castle is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious solo travellers seeking affordable accommodations in White Castle, Louisiana, the most practical approach is to look for hotels in nearby larger towns like Donaldsonville or Plaquemine, as White Castle itself has limited lodging options. These towns, just a short drive from White Castle, offer a greater selection of budget-friendly motels and inns.
Donaldsonville, located just across the Mississippi River, provides a quiet setting with several national chain hotels that frequently offer competitive rates. Solo travellers will appreciate its small-town charm and easy access to local historical sites.
Plaquemine, another close option, offers similar budget accommodations and is known for its historic district and the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site.
When is the most affordable time to visit White Castle?
The most affordable time to visit White Castle, Louisiana, is typically during the off-peak seasons, specifically late fall (October to November) and late winter to early spring (February to April). During these months, demand for accommodations and local activities tends to be lower, leading to more competitive pricing.
For solo travellers, visiting outside of the summer rush and major holidays offers the best chance to find deals on guesthouses or smaller inns. The weather is also quite pleasant during these periods, allowing for comfortable exploration of the town's historic sites without the intense heat and humidity of summer. You can enjoy strolls along the Mississippi River or visit local landmarks like the Nottoway Plantation, often with fewer crowds and potentially lower tour prices.
Mid-week stays are also generally more affordable than weekend visits, regardless of the season. By planning your trip between Tuesday and Thursday, you're more likely to find reduced rates on lodging.
What free activities should we do in White Castle?
White Castle, Louisiana, while a small community, offers a few free activities that allow visitors to experience its local charm, especially for solo travellers. A primary attraction is the historic Nottoway Plantation, often referred to as the "White Castle of Louisiana." While tours of the mansion itself have an admission fee, the expansive grounds and exterior of this magnificent antebellum estate can often be viewed from the perimeter roads or designated public areas without charge, offering a glimpse into its grandeur.
Solo travellers can also enjoy the quiet ambiance of the Mississippi River levee. Walking or biking along the levee provides scenic views of the river and the surrounding rural landscape, a peaceful way to spend an afternoon. This offers a chance to observe local wildlife and appreciate the natural beauty of the region.
Additionally, exploring the small downtown area of White Castle itself, with its local shops and historic buildings, can be a pleasant, free activity. While not bustling, it provides a sense of the town's character and history.
Is it cheaper to book a White Castle hotel and flight package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it’s wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect vacation package.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival.
