It was nice to stay at the Chic and basic velvet hotel, staff is very friendly, kitchen area has a lot of options and the hotel is in a very nice area. Only gap that’s why I gave 4 stars is the air conditioning in my room, it was an old and outdated system and there was no extraction fan in the bathroom. All the rest was great

Not far from the train station. The room and bathroom are both spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The free minibar drinks are a big bonus. The rooftop area offers a nice view and is a great place to relax. There’s also free coffee and tea in the lounge area after breakfast time.

We were looking for a cruise near the cruise port to make our cruise experience easier. This hotel was excellent. The location was very quiet with walkable streets. The recommended restaurant from the reception desk was perfection. I would recommend and if we go on another cruise out of Barcelona, we will stay there again.

The Velvet............

The Velvet is a nice place and in a good location. Staff are wonderful. You will find plenty of Barcelona hounds hanging in the vicinity too!!

Property was clean and conveniently located. However, there was one front desk agent who was not very friendly or helpful. All other agents would greet you as you walked in our said goodbye as you left, but the older gentleman would not even look up from his computer. Very awkward and unfriendly.

Better than Basic

The room was quite small and the only window overlooked to the interior "courtyard" with ohter similar windows looking at you. Breakfast buffet was good. Really liked that there.was a self service coffee machine available all day, along with free filtered and chilled water to refill your bottles.

Stayed here for a conference, was good for what I needed. The breakfast area was very nice, check-in and check-out were easy, and the front desk staff were helpful. The walls are very thin, so you can hear doors closing from anywhere. There was no key for the safe in my room and the shower head wasn't very clean. Would stay again for a conference but not for a longer vacation.

It was over all a nice stay. Very well located, staff were friendly. It was clean, so that’s good. However the standard wasn’t as good as it looks like on the picture. Things was old/worn out.

This was our first time in Barcelona and the first hotel we stayed in so I can’t compare it to other hotels. It is nice though and the staffs are friendly. The only thing I don’t like but not a big deal is that I find the lighting too dark specially in the hallway. Again, it’s just me and other people may prefer that.The area is safe.

While staff and hotel vibe/concept were on point, the facilities are not new and need a bit pick me up. Room floors need to be mopped throughly and bathroom has mold and mildew that needs to be removed. I’ll recommend to have a pocket door in the restroom for easier access. The layout of room 501 is awkward and does not leave room to open suitcases. Bed was uncomfortable. Honesty bar concept is cute, solarium is nice, bar/dining area is welcoming.

Strange room and building

Strange hotel room… elevator had barely room for one person and a carry on. Our room had chips missing from the floor. The bathroom products had the weirdest and cheesiest sexual messages on them that I’m still confused about. The room was very small. No fridge and no tea or coffee making supplies. Shower pressure was pretty good. Air conditioning worked well. Nice neighbourhood but far from touristy things. Nice staff. Carpet outside the room had all sorts of gross stains that were glowing in the black light.
