9/10 Wonderful! (1,887 reviews)
We really appreciated how clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained the rooms were, and the hotel’s location was definitely a highlight. It’s conveniently situated within walking distance of many restaurants, attractions, and downtown spots, which made getting around very easy.
That said, we felt the stay may be better suited for adults or older travelers rather than families with young children. In-room amenities were a bit limited — for example, drinking water wasn’t provided and we had to request it daily from the concierge. Service was fine overall, though not especially memorable.
While there are many great attractions nearby, several of the main activities (such as Weta Workshop, the Sky Tower, and the All Blacks Experience) are quite pricey, which can limit how many activities you’re able to fit into your stay — especially when traveling as a family.
We had hoped to enjoy a few specific activities with our son, including the All Blacks Experience and Andy’s Burgers at SkyCity, however both were closed on the day we stayed. This meant we had to pivot our plans last minute, which slightly impacted our overall experience (though we understand this was outside the hotel’s control).
Overall, it’s a well-located and comfortable hotel, but families with young children may want to plan carefully or consider whether the surrounding activities and amenities align with their expectations.
